Hi bronies.

Greetings from ponychan.co
>>298 Morning, ponychan,
(325.35 KB 749x1024 asaadffff.png)

>>299 How's it going?
(321.90 KB 1280x965 333.png)

>>300 We recently started a new thread. I feel honored you're visiting. Do you happen to like our /vr/ like Flash games or Sonic? those threads have the definitive way to play both Flash games and Sonic.
>>300 btw, nice pony OC.
(239.48 KB 1002x1024 139623105410.png)

>>301 Thanks; thought I'd check it out. Have we met before? I like a lot of older games, but I never really got into sonic. I mostly play strategy games, and lately, dumb mobile games. I'll check out the threads in a bit; have to do some IRL stuff real quick. >>302 Oh that's Maud Pie from the show. I once had someone tell me I reminded them of her. So I started using her as my avatar. How are you doing?
>>304 >I mostly play strategy games Grand strategy games? Or RTS? My favorites are Warcraft 3 & Stronghold series. Civilization 4 & 5 is okay. LOTR BFME 2. >I like a lot of older games We should have an emulation thread later. >Oh that's Maud Pie from the show. In truth, I am not that much of a brony, but MLP artstyle is really cute; it's the same with anime, I don't avidly watch it except for a few shows like Strike Witches and Tenchi Muyo. I really should sit down and watch MLP. >How are you doing? Shilling this board lately.
(179.06 KB 1600x1200 585601.png)

>>305 >Grand strategy games? Or RTS? bit of both. I've played a ton of Vic1, Vic2, EU3, EU4. more recently, M2TW. >My favorites are Warcraft 3 & Stronghold series. I quite enjoyed Stronghold. I only ever played the original though. And Kingdoms, which was 'interesting'. I ended up with 3 at some point but never installed it. Have you played 3? >Civilization 4 & 5 is okay. 4 is the GOAT; I'd fire that up any day. not a fan of 5 or 6. >LOTR BFME 2. never played that one. >We should have an emulation thread later. That'd be cool. >In truth, I am not that much of a brony, but MLP artstyle is really cute; it's the same with anime, I don't avidly watch it except for a few shows like Strike Witches and Tenchi Muyo. I really should sit down and watch MLP. That's understandable. The vast majority of people on Ponychan and its derivatives are not bronies and haven't been for a very long time. Most don't even post as ponies any more. >Shilling this board lately. Did you create it? I'm reading over the meta post. interesting concept. I don't know much about 8chan aside from the general make-your-own-board concept. Is this a private instance of it?
(1.03 MB 2034x2351 Grace lemonade2.jpg)

>>306 CK2 is the only grand strategy game I've gotten into. I prefer the Diplo community on Warcraft 3 for grand strategy. >Have you played 3? I have 3, but I prefer the original & Stronghold 2. >Did you create it? Yep. >Is this a private instance of it? 8moe is a successor to old 8chan (which tragically was kicked off & everyone had to exodus or go to a bunker). Recently there was an event: look at >>>/icup/5921 & >>>/icup/5943 for more information.
(1.58 MB 576x324 575937.gif)

>>307 I've played some CK2, but I much prefer controlling a nation over controlling a person. an IRL friend of mine used to play Warcraft 3 quite a bit; I used to watch him now and then. What drew you to this site over the other successors and alternatives? interboard games? interesting.
(334.32 KB 1000x1000 13.png)

>>308 >What drew you to this site over the other successors and alternatives? The stability & drawthreads, initially. I always liked /v/ Vivian James too. So I went partially b/c I liked the board tans. Plus having been an 8chan native, but prior to this place it was julay.world. >interboard games? interesting. It's old news now, but yes, there were interboard games being hosted.

(640.94 KB 1000x1000 33snow.png)

>>316 >Tabletop Simulator I don't have the game atm. >like Warhammer 40k I'm worried a game like that would be too complex for me. I tried learning DnD for a while and it was hard.
(325.35 KB 749x1024 asaadffff.png)

>>317 Ah, I see. Well we will probably do other stuff as well. We just chose to try that because we all have TTS. Were you trying to run a D&D game yourself?
(1.09 MB 1522x1100 14 lichess.png)

>>318 >Well we will probably do other stuff as well. I would recommend something like lichess. https://lichess.org/ A chess tournament. Thinking of games I would recommend. >Were you trying to run a D&D game yourself? Sorta, but I also had a group.
>>319 I play chess from time to time, but the others really don't. We had a chess tournament a long while ago. But the chess players from back then have since moved on. I don't think the current bunch would enjoy a tournament. Some other games we tossed out were League, DOTA, Gartic Phone, Path of Exile, Apex, Overwatch 2. That's what I mean. If you're just roleplaying for fun, that's not too complicated. If you're the one responsible for all the rules and stuff, that gets complicated.

>>320 Thinking of free games. Open Spades: https://openspades.yvt.jp/ Earlier I was shilling an early Alpha / Beta Minecraft server, yet it isn't very anonymous friendly.
>>320 Try playing "original" chess sometime. From back when the game was a training aid for warfare and not just a game. It is a lot more fun to me than modern chess. The main differences are piece names and a couple of rules. >Pawns are called Pikemen >The Queen is the Minister >Knights are Heavy Cavalry >Rooks are Chariots >Bishops are Light Cavalry The main rules differences are: >Pawns can attack any perpendicular adjacent square except the one behind them. They can never retreat. >The King can attack and take pieces, but cannot do so if the action would leave him in check. >The opposing King must actually be taken (slain in battle) to win the game. And the biggest: >Players do not take turns in a set order. Rather the game is divided into "rounds" where the turn order is decided each round by a roll of dice. This represents things like bad weather, disease, terrain, low supplies, and other factors that are beyond the player's (general's) control that can boost or hamper their army.
(198.91 KB 1142x699 4312.jpg)

>>321 That might be interesting. How isn't it anonymous friendly? >>322 I've read a decent amount on the history of chess. I'm not sure exactly which version you're referring to, but I do know that some early varieties used dice, but as I understand it they died out leaving no real record of how they were played. Indian chess (chaturanga) used elephants, chariots or boats, cavalry, and infantry. I think my favorite rule in the history of chess is the king's jump over the pawn line to the 3rd rank, leading the charge into battle. But that was in the days of post-Shatranj and pre-Queen's chess. where the bishops could never interact, and the queen was the weakest unit on the board.
>>325 >How isn't it anonymous friendly? 1. You have to buy Minecraft. 2. In order to play Minecraft, a Microsoft acct which wants a phone number. 3. To get on Discord (which also involves a phone number, BUT that can be avoided if you use tutanota email) -- to get whitelisted for the server.
(165.66 KB 650x800 576705.jpg)

>>326 lame on all counts.
It is a bit lame. Another anon suggested Minetest, but I have strong nostalgia for old Minecraft, alas. >>327 The community events were fun. (That is, while they were still around). There were the Soulcalibur 6 tournies & Hunger Games threads where boards would submit their contestants. Someday the /icup/ might return, but it would require some hands on deck and participation.

I forgot, ss13 or space station 13 is also popular & free. https://www.byond.com/download/ You simply use byond to play. There's also Oldschool Runescape, but that is all I have to say about ideas for gamenights.
(130.85 KB 355x334 139646848977.png)

>>330 I spent many years programming on BYOND. I'm not a fan of SS13. I've never played Runescape.
>>331 Oh, I'd also play arcade games and try to beat my friend's highscores. Like Frogger or Space Invaders.
>>332 not a bad idea, but you don't need a dedicated game night for that. ever play Battle for Wesnoth?
(741.39 KB 2000x2000 Grace laptop transparent.png)

>>338 been a pleasure talking with you! I've always been one for hangout sorts of threads. Come stop by HAY on ponychan's /chat/ some time. That's where I usually hang out nowadays. >>339 As far as /v/ is concerned: https://pastebin.com/PwwbVjdE I have a list of games I'd generally play. >dumb star trek game that I play What is that? Sounds interesting. I'm guessing you also like Stellaris. >Come stop by HAY on ponychan's /chat/ some time. Oh, I see, I like that name, lol. HAY. There is bronytown & the weald >>309 as far as hanging sorts of threads go around here.
(404.76 KB 600x657 asadaffaf.png)

>>340 That's quite a diverse games list! I haven't played the vast majority of them, though. Star Trek Fleet Command, it's a mobile MMO I do like Stellaris. I haven't played it in a while though. I used to like making gigantic maps with expanded timelines and with impossibly difficult aliens and just seeing if I could survive. This thread is nice. I'm not sure I understand the rules of the Weald or how it's intended to be used.
(241.09 KB 1000x1000 3 grace.png)

>>342 >I haven't played the vast majority of them, though. That is surprising to me. A lot of classic games there. >I'm not sure I understand the rules of the Weald or how it's intended to be used. The Weald is basically a /b/. But a /b/ where roleplayers are welcome, but also anybody else can randomly post there as well. Like the name implies, weald is another word for a forest or wilderness. So the idea is random people in the woodland bumping into each other (but RP or roleplay is not required -- you can just random post).
(563.64 KB 715x827 139527332050.png)

>>343 Oh yeah, I recognize most of them. I've just never played a lot of them, or some I've played in other ports/versions. The only consoles I've had were NES, SNES, Genesis, and GameBoy. Oh ok. Interesting idea. I'm not sure I understand /b/ in concept. which might be strange as I'm on an imageboard. I've just never gotten into 4chan or that culture. >is a dirty namefag
(196.57 KB 562x516 grace cookie bite edit.png)

>>344 Oh, I can only relate to Genesis. In terms of vidya, I played Genesis, PS1, N64, Gamecube. >I'm not sure I understand /b/ in concept /b/ is basically random: anything goes. If anything, /b/ is the board for you, because if you like to randomly talk to people and namefag / avatarfag, generally /b/ is where you can get away with it compared to other boards. >I've just never gotten into 4chan I never started out on 4chan, but was introduced first to 8chan around 2015. Then later learned about 4chan. I would recommend getting to know a few of the boards. 8moe is basically /v/ & /b/ & /vb/ paired with fetish boards. The anons at >>>/tkr/ are very nice.
(94.22 KB 960x600 my fetish.jpg)

>>345 Back in the day, we had SEGA Channel. That was a fun little device. >If anything, /b/ is the board for you, because if you like to randomly talk to people and namefag / avatarfag, generally /b/ is where you can get away with it compared to other boards. Really?? That's surprising. My experiences with people from 4chan's /b/, in places other than 4chan, have usually been... not so great. I can't imagine that being a place where I'd fit in. Is using a name her frowned upon? >I would recommend getting to know a few of the boards. Is /b/ here like 4chan's /b/? I see /vb/ is random /v/. But this board is like several of them combined. >The anons at >>>/tkr/ are very nice. >
>>346 /tkr/ is normal compared to the other fetish boards. >My experiences with people from 4chan's /b/ I'd say every /b/ is different. >Is using a name her frowned upon? I'm not sure about namefaggotry, but yes, avatarfaggotry is frowned upon. Anonymity is highly valued. Albeit Acid (site owner) avatarfags a bit with Asuka and so on. You aren't allowed to overuse an avatar on /v/, for example, except a little bit in moderation. I have a bad habit of avatarfagging and I know it is frowned upon.
>>347 >/tkr/ is normal compared to the other fetish boards. oh I know. the image was a joke, but I wasn't joking. >I'd say every /b/ is different. I guess I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about 4chan's /b/, not the one here. I would assume the people here are nicer. >I'm not sure about namefaggotry, but yes, avatarfaggotry is frowned upon. Is that a site-wide thing or just depends on the board? Should I stop?
(715.81 KB 1830x1867 Grace 03 edit 2.png)

>>348 >but I wasn't joking Sounds like you'll be visiting /tkr/. Their board-tan is named Lila. (I have a chart of the b-tans) >Is that a site-wide thing or just depends on the board? It depends on the board. But it is generally frowned upon Unless it is against the rules, you're okay to do but some people complain about it. >Should I stop? No, it's not against the rules here.
(20.09 KB 400x400 AI Grace chan.jpg)

Anyways, I am apprehensive about crossposting. I don't want to get between you & your friend group. Or give them the impression that /8flags/ is stealing you away (since u're a dedicated poster there). they don't like me shilling this place, but that is understandable
(22.48 KB 605x489 703396.jpg)

>>350 >Sounds like you'll be visiting /tkr/. I see your posts there. I've already read over some of the threads and posts. but I don't know tbh. I'm very particular about that sort of thing, and I don't want to rock the boat. I stopped visiting TMF ~15 years ago for similar reasons. >Their board-tan is named Lila. Is a tan a mascot? >(I have a chart of the b-tans) interesting; what do the numbers represent? Are these like the avatars of the board admins? >Unless it is against the rules, you're okay to do but some people complain about it. >No, it's not against the rules here. I appreciate that. I switch every now and then if I need to make a point with a particular image, but it just suits me better. I also like having some idea of who I'm talking to, but that's up to the person I'm talking with and not up to me. >>351 Ah, honestly, don't worry about it. The place that's been stealing everyone away is another pony board. It's been disappointing but there's nothing to be done about it. You don't have to worry about stealing me away. [?]I actually run ponychan.co[/?]

It is true this board is shilled. I didn't come to Ponychan as a friend, but as a shill; not until I was invited cordially, top kek. How often does it happen that a shill gets invited back for small talk? >>352 >Is a tan a mascot? Yes, a b-tan or board tan is a board mascot. But there are tans for other things as well besides boards, ofc. >interesting; what do the numbers represent? I just counted how many tans there are. Not all of them are board tans per say, but icons of their board culture at time. >I also like having some idea of who I'm talking to For me it's that I collect a ton of images of a character and it's hard not to avatar when I have folders of a character. >another pony board What is this other pony board?
>>353 >How often does it happen that a shill gets invited back for small talk? Very rarely! But I took a look around, and it seemed like a chill spot with a similar vibe to our own. Are tans 5 and 6 just those people IRL? >For me it's that I collect a ton of images of a character and it's hard not to avatar when I have folders of a character. Similarly, I've got several different characters I've got a lot of images for. I just tend not to switch between them unless there's a reason. >What is this other pony board? ponyville.us. Good luck shilling there.

>>354 Oh, that's Jim and CodeMonkey, father and son. With Hotwheels. Hotwheels was the founder of 8chan & Jim Watkins was a partner and financer. Later after the Christchurch shooting, this site was dropped and Hotwheels denounced it, so a lot of 8chan natives resented that. The Watkins formed 8kun and this community with Acid & Mark later formed 8chan.moe as a successor to old 8chan. I was around with Hotwheels, but I vaguely remember it and Jim was the pig farmer. It is a long story. Acid is our /site/ owner and Mark is the old /v/ BO. Sometimes they call this place cakechan b/c of Mark and make fun of him for being Jewish. 8chan was very infamous, but it was all /pol/ and /pol/ is no longer really a thing here like it once was.

Each board was donating jewels and /tkr/ wanted their jewels to be more in the center of the crown, but the crown jewels was already done by then -- so the terms of peace were something to do with letting Lila have access to Grace's tickle dungeon or something like this.

>>570 No. I played it and was obsessed with the werepyres. I was kinda a proto-furry way back then & wanted to dress as one for Halloween.

Whenever I watch cytube with friends, I like to watch these true horror stories: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0EQBfyEbrY

(251.85 KB 1000x1000 20.png)

>>583 Honestly, I don't even want to talk about it all because it was pretty graphic and bizarre. I was playing with my old pet dog though and watched animals on my window sill.
(256.70 KB 1000x1000 36no_bg.png)

I woke up this morning with an ache, but thankfully it wasn't so bad.
>>584 sounds possibly distressing >>585 did you sleep in a weird position?
(283.77 KB 1065x1314 36_xeyes.png)

>>586 I'm not sure. Btw, sorry not saying saying good night earlier. I was so sleepy that I just fell asleep. Today was another passive day. In fact this conversation is the highlight of my day so far, lol.
(111.68 KB 887x900 132121427822.jpg)

>>587 It's ok; I figured you had left already. It's my pleasure to be here talking with you. I was commenting last night, there is someone on Ponychan who I think you would also enjoy talking with. I'm getting some things ready IRL for tomorrow What are you up to?
(227.08 KB 1000x1000 21.png)

>>588 I went there earlier to say hi, but decided to delete my post b/c I was talking about Runescape (& I wasn't really feeling Runescape).
>>589 Sorry I missed it. I saw an interesting video about Runescape recently, about a smith named Blue[something]. I was referring to Clarity. He's mostly in the HAY thread at night.
(231.48 KB 1000x1000 27.png)

>What are you up to? I made a post (somewhere else) about how I no longer really like candy such as Reeses or Butterfingers because they stick to your teeth and cause cavities. (I had a bad experience with that). That and milk duds are the worst candy: I broke my wisdom tooth by biting a very hard milk dud. I kept it secret the entire time until one night it started hurting with an abscess with terrible pain, that I was up the entire night flushing that area with cold water to numb it until morning I got medicine to stop the pain. But I went months with a broken tooth and everytime I chewed it hurt an I stayed that way until that night forced me to get it checked out: then it was pulled.
>>591 yeah, peanut butter is the problem I think.
(147.07 KB 550x616 Grace cropped.png)

>>590 I'm apprehensive about joining a friend group. I know people change when you talk 1-on-1 vs talking with other people in a trio or gang. I might really give that a shot for game night.
>>593 That's understandable. Clarity wasn't part of the game group. The people in the game group don't join chat threads as much, but they're pretty chill. We'll probably have our next game night on Sunday. HAY is live just about every night.
(223.98 KB 1000x1000 34.png)

>>594 I might offer to play Stellaris someday, but lately I'm sleepier at these hours. I tend to have a royally fucked up sleeping schedule and a bit of insomnia, so that might change. I think it's interesting you like to play long-term games, albeit these days I'd probably prefer short-term or medium gametime.
(179.66 KB 680x340 659.png)

>>595 I'm normally asleep right now. I work nights usually. but I have to flip my schedule for tomorrow. Stellaris would be fun. Do you remember OG Stellaris? with the wormhole generators you had to build manually, and the cultural expansion of system controls? I used to play 80-hours-long campaigns like they were nothing. I really prefer games like that. but it can get frustrating when things don't go your way and you've committed so much time. but for similar reasons, I just have so many other things going on, I don't want to spend that kind of time nowadays on a singleplayer game. Multiplayer is a different story though.
(254.66 KB 902x784 Grace soft crop.png)

Now, Altoids are a nice mint to have. >>596 I'd encourage you to get Warcraft 3 someday. >Do you remember OG Stellaris? I used to play Civ 5 a lot, but also a bit of Stellaris multiplayer (not so much singleplayer). I felt a little alarmed how much time a session can take: 1 Stellaris game & it takes the whole day away, lol, and multiplayer sessions always ended mid-game. Games I usually play can take 1-2 hours.
(1.47 MB 433x454 1466907396618.gif)

>>597 I'm kind of mixed on RTS's. I find them generally stressful. I used to play with dedicated paradox gaming groups, and we'd run Vic2, EU4, or Stellaris (much less often than the other 2). We'd schedule sessions weekly, with 4 hours per session. And games typically lasted 6-8 sessions. I've got a lot of not so nice things to say about Civ 5. Civ 4 was the GOAT.
(326.49 KB 1065x1314 36_eyes.png)

>>598 What gaming genres do you like again? >I've got a lot of not so nice things to say about Civ 5. That's understandable. I had a friend who also didn't like it. Hated that you couldn't stack units, for instance.
(20.09 KB 400x400 AI Grace chan.jpg)

(6.70 MB 640x480 Civ Rev Win victory music.mp4)

I played Civilization Revolution 1st. Then Civ 5. Then a bit of Civ IV. xD So my Civ credentials probably don't look so good.
>>599 Grand strategy is my #1, various flavors of that, some strategy, hack and slash, and RPGs or games with RPG elements. some other more niche games I guess. and then dumb mobile games that I don't really count. Yeah, that's one of the fundamental problems with the game. It took the Civ strategic concepts and shit all over them, replacing them with things that were annoying and nonsensical. When they added "melee ships" I stopped playing and never looked back. What an idiotic concept. Never in the history of the world has a naval force on its own captured an city occupied by determined defenders. I've never played Revolution. I started with 1 on SNES, then I played 2 literally forever, and then I jumped to 4, then I got 5 right when it came out and was disappointed. and then I got 6 on sale and was again disappointed.

>>601 Yes, I love WC3 custom games: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEVAKsxqKHw >some strategy I sorta like RTS games as well. WC3 is an RTS with RPG elements, btw. >SNES Oh, I'd sometimes play Mario Bros with a friend on emulation via netplay. (but it was also laggy at times). Do you happen to have a Switch?

>>602 that looks interesting I don't have a Switch. I run some old console emulators on occasion. Clarity has Switches! >>603 Diplomacy the board game? >>604 I played original Warcraft a long time ago. And I played Starcraft for a bit. I think my favorite RTS was C&C: Red Alert.
or M2TW, if that counts. not sure what genre that falls into.
(85.60 KB 711x939 131211.png)

>>605 I love the pics you're posting, lol, hecka active tonight. What about sandbox games? such as Minecraft (or, likely in this case, Minetest?) Fighting games? Maybe you'll get into the TES series sometime & share screencaps. I'm not sure if I said this before, but I'm not too big on Paradox games -- but Stellaris is the exception. I'm not sure how multiplayer would work with so many sessions, but maybe I'd be willing to try that. >C&C: Red Alert Yuri's Revenge was my favorite back in the day (childhood game). >Diplomacy the board game? It used to be a different name for OGs. The Alternative Future or TAF. >M2TW I haven't really played the Total War games. I have played Stronghold 1 + 2 & I think that's something.
(199.46 KB 1024x1024 raricat.jpg)

>>607 glad you like them! I've never played a Minecraft game or clone. I have played Terraria a bit, but I never beat it. Do you have that one? I suck at fighting games. elder scrolls? I'm not opposed, but I also don't think I have time to commit. (Trekville takes a lot of time!) Yeah I knew you weren't into the other Paradox games. The games we played in our dedicated groups typically had 12-20 players. So the only feasible way to do that was to have dedicated blocs and schedule it out. And if you can't make it, you get a substitute player to cover for you. That's a HUGE time commitment, weeks or months out. For smaller casual games, you don't have to do that. You just load up and play however long you want, and continue it when you can. I'm getting close to wrapping up the IRL stuff I need to do. I'll have to go once I'm done.
>>608 How about Mario Kart 64? >Terraria Yes, I have that, but haven't played it at all yet.
(11.52 KB 480x360 twi_ae86.jpg)

>>609 You might enjoy it if you like Minecraft. I never had an N64. I played the original Mario Kart quite a bit though.

>>612 Have anymore? Name 5, maybe a few niche?
>>613 had to deal with something. hmmm.... I don't have many multiplayer games on Steam that I've played much. 5: aside from what we've already talked about, League of Legends, Path of Exile, and NES or SNES emulated games? niche: Sid Meier's Railroads! I have to go; will be off until late tomorrow most likely. Have a good night!
