When browsing some RPG sites for resources I stumble upon some characters sheets for the Archie characters made for use with FASERIP (the old Marvel RPG by TSR of D&D fame) and that made me wonder if anyone had experience or interest in playing games set in the Sonic universe. A did found some made specifically for Sonic on itch.io but those seem more like those "storygames" where is mostly just people just talking.

You know what's weird, Frontiers was the first time the drop dash had any utility for me. In Mania I knew about it, but there wasn't much incentive to using it when I already had the spindash ingrained in my muscle memory. Whereas in Frontiers, the dropdash allowed me to go uphill faster than just boosting did due to the game's weird physics, giving me a reason to dropdash instead of boost. It's seemingly the only time that Sonic Team managed to do something better than Whitehead and yet it was completely by accident.

I'll start: Sonic's power level is generally limitless. If you've noticed something in the games it's that he doesn't really try his hardest oftentimes or ever get pushed to his limit. He holds back, because he doesn't seem to see the need to use his true power. Which is why I believe that he's not bluffing at all when he says he's faster than light. We saw a glimpse of the hedgehog's true potential in Sonic Battle as well where he pulled a logically impossible win over Ultimate Emerl, an entity who had all the powers of the characters combined into one. Sonic still won, because his power is too high. IDW's taken a different approach and seems to lowball Sonic a lot. He's basically a flat supersonic here because it's needed to make the plots work. That's technically canon so it pokes a hole in this idea. But, Sonic x DC is showing us his potential in real time. It shows us Sega's intent for the character, where supersonic isn't his maximum, but his baseline.
