You're arguing with nobody here. No one said she can't charge that much, but compared to other artists at her level, she is charging much more. It sounds like you're taking this way too seriously.

If I remember right, Nyx has had money issues in the past and wants to move out of her apartment, which could explain her pricing; however, her pricing could be making it harder for her to get commissions.
It's hard to say, but if she lowered her sketches to $80, she could make more, but that depends on whether the price change brings in enough people to make up the difference. So it's probably better for her to stay at her prices if she's making a good amount from sketches already.
Something to also note is that you can get a sketch commission from her for half the price if you support her on her Subscribestar, which wouldn't surprise me if some people will sub to her for a month or two for cheaper art. She also gives 10% off commissions as well if you pay $10 a month, so that $1400 would become $1260.
