>>1806272 >You're describing its combat from a perspective of someone who did barely any pve You mean the post where I was talking about my experience with the combat at low levels? Yeah no shit retard. Considering you didn't actually expand on why the combat is any different than I described I'm going to assume you're just butthurt and it isn't one of those things that actually develops any fluidity for 4538 hours and a $100+ on expansions despite MMOniggers trying to gaslight people into being just as miserable as they are.
>>1807065 You could have jumped into pvp at lvl 3 and see for youself. The combat is fast, fluid and still tactical, it has real projectiles, harder hitting abilities have a stronger feel of both connecting and missing, it has real animation cancelling and about face tricks that you can use to feint and bait. Dodging, blocking and other forms of avoiding or negating damage are frequent and important so you're not just trading damage in a pseudo-real time game like WoW and other non-action combat systems but you can still play some specs that rely mostly on tab targetting. There are visual tells for boons (buffs) and players who fail to keep track of enemy boons and utilize their own can get deleted real fast in a fight that can otherwise go for a good amount of time if both sides know what they're doing. Buffs can be dispelled, stolen or corrupted into debuffs. Finishing a downed opponent is something even experienced can still fuck up and let the enemy rally into round 2. Like other core mechanics it's really good at the easy to learn hard to master design idea. I could keep going about the unique class design etc. but at certain point it's like trying to describe fucking to a virgin. It should be experienced. Arenanet's megalomaniacal founders are long gone and whatever is left of the company pivoted to a business model that was basically their fat feminist writers farting awful stories no one cared about and adding cash shop slop around them which obviously didn't work and is to be blamed for the next pivot that made the game a lot more expensive because even pvp which was very accessible before is now increasingly more paywalled with every mini-expansion they release. I didn't buy anything since they've changed to this model 3 years ago and don't even play anymore but I dont' like seeing reddit-tier analysis of the first few minutes of the game slandering one of the best systems in the genre.
>>1808514 >You could have jumped into pvp at lvl 3 and see for youself. I did and PvP felt okay, but is obviously not representative of PvE combat so is completely irrelevant to the point being made. Your romanticized description of the game doesn't acknowledge that just going around hitting mobs in the world feels like complete shit, which is what the player is going to spend dozens of hours doing, potentially hundreds. 99% of MMO players could not possibly care less about the nuances of PvP tech.

Seeking for some geimu suggestion and small review of it Anonymous 05/28/2025 (Wed) 03:46:45 Id: 85767d No. 1410369 [Reply] [Last]
I'm trying to find some geimus on my own through using Google and the Steam store page and then downloading it afterwards with QBittorrent and then setting it all up with Lutris and Proton wine, and praying to Gayben that it doesn't run like shit. I'm primarily interested in FPS and RPG games. For RPG games I'd would like to have the ability to use a bow and a sword basically and not being limited to only 1 weapon type like how it is common with other RPG games. I am a casual pleb player, so I am not exactly seeking for a challenge. I just want to kill shit and seeing numbers go up. I don't except from anons to make KC tier review post but at least give me some short description of a geimu if its at least fun to play or not. By fun I mean it doesn't contain bullshit mechanic that would piss me off, I don't have patience anymore for games that punishes the player too hard for not gitting gud enough, I'm too old for this shit. So far one of the pirated games I played a lot recently is "My Times at Sandrock" I don't know how to exactly describe it but its well a open world game with crafting system and it's made in piece of shit unity engine but at least it is performant and doesn't lag too much apart from that sometimes it takes ages for assets and menu to load because god knows why. I am not really happy with this game because despite there is combat in this game the only weapons I can access right now are melee weapons which are like at least 4 base variants available as well a upgraded form of it, there is not even at least a fucking bow or crossbows weapon available, there are ranged weapons in this game like pistols and even a assault rifle but they are locked behind some fucking quests which is not open to me yet so I am stuck with this sword and shield combo which pisses me off. I have almost 60 hours in it already in this game according to Lutris. I installed some mods for this game to make it slightly less annoying to play such as extended day time, machine production speed, because those coders had the brilliant idea to tie machine speed to the day time speed and no commission limit so that I can do more than one commissions in this game. <Wigmund I pirated this game but didn't played it for long, I fiddled around with the settings of this game because I'm left handed I always need to change the key binding of games. Anyway so far the performance is not so bad but the way the gameplay works in this game is kinda ass, for example it is not exactly obvious what is interactable or lootable due to lack of any visible hints and clicking on interactable objects feels like it suffers pixel hunting issue, so this game is already a big minus for me. Then I got into combat against a few wolves and died, I noticed too late I didn't made any recent save and then quit because I'm not even told that I need to do regular saves because I cannot be resurrected in this game at all. So far the game doesn't look fun to play. <Ancient Kingdom I played it for only over 1 hour on it and not more. It's a 2D RPG game with a few classes to play as, so I picked the ranger class because it can use bows and swords, just what I wanted. There isn't that many ability to grind for which is a let down, I can't really tell how this games fares in later stage because I didn't leveled up much. I once got my ass kicked by the skeleton boss because I was doing a quest for gathering some flowers and since the skeletons where slightly higher level then me but I could kite them more or less easy I thought I could defeat the first boss but nope I couldn't do it. For some reason the sword weapon does barely any damage compared to the bow I have, yes there is a ability that lets me use a powerful sword attack but it comes with a long 5 second cool down timer which is not really ideal. I may play this game more but if it turns out that its not fun to play I will gladly drop it. <Oblivion remastered Honestly I didn't had much hope for this UE 5 engine shit slop to run well on my machine, I have to turn down the graphics settings to medium and lowering other settings so that I sort of get at least 50-60 FPS frames, I don't even get a stable 60 FPS from this game. I am not really impressed by this remaster, the main reason its just more of the same exact shit like OG Oblivion just slapped down with the piece of shit UE 5 engine. I played of this game for about 31 hours but I ended up playing the OG oblivion for at least over 88 hours instead because it runs well and it has tons of mods for me to install. So the verdict is that I don't want to play this remaster any more and I'd just play OG oblivion instead. <Unreal Tournament 1999 and 2004 Classic Arena Shooter games, I own for the 2004 version a legit german copy which I installed a Blood patch for it already long time ago. I play those games from time to time against bots because its just a simple shooting fun with no dumb shit in it. I play both of those release but I have no preferences for either of these, I like them both. I don't mind having to play against bots as long the bots are not dumb as a brick and they do give me some challenge. But i always end up winning like 100% of the matches because I didn't set the difficulty to any higher. I would love to make some weapon mods for those games but I have no idea how the fuck I am supposed to learn Unreal Script. Man that was back in the time when Epic Games was based and not full of shit.

The Last of Us Season 2: Electric Trannygaloo: The Movie: The Thread Anonymous 04/08/2025 (Tue) 03:57:55 Id: 2f9241 No. 1087091 [Reply] [Last]
The review embargo just lifted for this wonderful series which I know is near and dear to the hearts of many a /v/irgin, so I am making this thread so we can discuss how the TV adaptation of our favorite video game is going! To start off, here are a few noteworthy articles >'The Last of Us' Season 2 Review: Somehow, the Best Video Game Adaptation Ever Only Got Better https://archive.ph/udHG4#selection-1005.0-1005.94 <While the first game is a fairly straightforward narrative that made perfect sense for an adaptation, the second game, The Last of Us: Part II, is a story that felt like it couldn’t exist with the same power in another medium. There are years of flashbacks, multiple changing viewpoints, and some of the most tragic and difficult losses you’ve ever had to reckon with in a video game. It should be a logistical nightmare for any TV series, and yet, with Season 2, Mazin and Druckmann prove once again why HBO's The Last of Us is the strongest video game adaptation ever. At times, the show might deviate from the path, but it all works, even heightening and improving a phenomenal season of television that does justice to arguably the best story in video game history. >Pedro Pascal Wasn’t Allowed To Play ‘The Last of Us’ Video Game https://archive.ph/irHu5#selection-1005.0-1005.63 <During a video interview prior to the release of The Last of Us, Pascal confessed that while showrunner Craig Mazin asked for his leading actors not to play the game, he picked up the controller anyway. "My nephews were watching me play and eventually got tired of my inability to complete the level, so they took my controller from me," Pascal told IGN during the video interview. "But then we started shooting the show and living in the world ourselves!" Go ahead and post about this shitshow's progress and what your hopes/expectations are, then discuss it in full once it releases! Maybe we'll even get a little /v/-style watch party going? It'll be just like the good old days of watching Gone Home gameplay!!!!!!!!

PC Games of the last two decades (2010-2025) Anonymous 05/27/2025 (Tue) 13:07:28 Id: 81bb9f No. 1407713 [Reply]
Hey, you /v/iewtiful people, I've been extremely out of the loop for the past few years of PC gaming, but going back to some titles I had on my bucket list I realized that I barely had anything worthwhile to play, buy or pirate. I would really like to be reccommended some of the best or most unique PC games that have come out not just the last few years, but in general since the 2010s (about the time I stopped having a lot of time to play games that weren't portable or emulated stuff or "eternal games" a la TF2). More specifically, I'm asking about games that are first and foremost for the PC (so not ports of console games, unless there's a big reason think Sonic Adventure 1-2 with the modding scene), whether they're just indie games or big budget studios is irrelevant to me so long as they're good'uns. I tend to stray away from live service crap because I just hate FOMO, so I'd much rather appreciate it if the suggestions are titles that don't require a centralized infrastructure to run (unless someone reverse engineered it and custom servers are allowed).

any TTRPG players (D&D, idk) with an open spot in their group? Anonymous 06/17/2025 (Tue) 22:18:06 Id: a691a9 No. 1477061 [Reply]
I've been wanting to do this forever but never got a chance to. Every time I think I hit the jackpot and I'm finally gonna have this sort of fun everyone else seems to have so easily, it just never goes nowhere because the other people's hearts aren't really into it For instance, everyone's online but when I ping them it's some bullshit like "uhh I'm VCing with a friend" or "I'm drinking water" or "I'm walking my pet fishes" trying to set up a date and time results in silence. It's frustrating. I tried going into a discord for it, but the people there were politics-obsessed faggots so that didn't go nicely either I don't mind weird shit in the game, I just wanna play. Everyone else has so many *crazy* TTRPG stories.. help a guy out? I don't know how any of this works but I'd like to try and do my best.

2025 AAA Gaming Crash Anonymous 04/21/2025 (Mon) 06:54:29 Id: ff3590 No. 1188609 [Reply] [Last]
I predict a gaming crash will happen as a result of the failure of GTA 6. There's not enough consoles out there to support it's sales on a very bloated budget, so it will flop. I think we will see a ripple effect in the AAA gaming industry, maybe even a crash. What do you guys think? The best counter-argument I've seen is that they will make more off of microtransactions in VI's online, but I'm not sure if people will even want to switch from GTA:O.

Vidya based dreams Anonymous 02/26/2025 (Wed) 00:58:33 Id: f4f4d4 No. 1074385 [Reply] [Last]
Have you ever had any dreams based on vidya, anon? Existing games or otherwise. I'll start with one I had a while ago: >Some sort of custom map, the part I'm in is some sort of long, blue, hexagonal tube with the bottom cut out and leaving a black abyss serving as a killzone, two white platforms lining either side (one above and one below), with doorways giving access for red on one side, and blu on the other (though the distance can be explosive jumped, but not scout doublejumped) >I am on BLU, playing soldier, on my side of the tube >Two RED soldiers are on the opposite side >rocket jumping around, hitting each other uselessly with their melees, exchanging voice lines, typical TF2 interactions >I whip out the righteous bison and start taking potshots >miss because it's the bison >one of the soldiers turns right towards me after my first shot misses, effortlessly steps out of the way of subsequent shots because again, it's the bison >actually intentionally steps back in front of my last two shots before I have to stop to reload, does the schadenfreude taunt, pain sounds interrupt the audio portion of it >he whips out his own righteous bison >we start blasting away at each other >neither of us can hit the other >other red soldier whips out his own bison and joins in >he can't hit anything either >the other players all start swapping to soldier and equipping the bison >start flooding into their respective halves of the tube

Didn't have a dream last night but I did wake up remembering a previous one I've had: >Find myself being Link from Breath of the Wild >Most of the world was similar to the game's map but large portions of it were more ruined and covered in desert >Had a hang glider I could pull out to fly across large portions of the world >Went North to the Deku Tree and climbed it almost all the way to the top >Flew to the center of the map where there was a large airship floating high up in the air >The interior was mostly wooden and was like a large bar/tavern >Full of a bunch of people from the world who found refuge in the sky >Jumped off one of the walkways and flew back down to the ground >>1142633 I think I also used to have a lot of dreams like those about games I played as a kid. Usually finding myself in more liminal areas of Super Mario 64 or Banjo-Kazooie that felt like a mix between their game worlds and a McDonald's play place. It was never anything scary like people meme those kinds of spaces into now, more just confusing since the spaces seemed to change a lot and lacked doors/exits most of the time. They also weren't as dark as these pictures but more well lit, often with a sort of stronger flourescent lighting instead.
Watched someone play No, I'm Not a Human before bed then had a dream about people pretending to be human but I can barely remember it now.
>>1074385 when I was playing more Quake (Live / Champions transition era) I would regularly strafejump in my dreams. and not by pressing buttons or aiming a mouse, but using my own legs and arms to aim and jump. felt like unlocking a secret level in dreamland. but it was also exhausting, sort of like lucid dreaming. not the awareness but the effort required. worst dreams I ever got from a game wasn't strictly a video game, it was from chess. thinking in never-ending loops about the "trees" of what happens next if I do this or that or the other thing. I was really trying to get into chess but these nightmares are honestly the reason I quit and will never try again. it's well understood that you can't really get decent at chess as an adult because you lack the neuroplasticity that allows kids to soak it up and become intuitively good at it. when you do push yourself hard enough to make some brain changes it's painful. literally. not worth it at all.

Frontends that don't suck like Launchbox does Anonymous 06/14/2025 (Sat) 21:44:14 Id: f29bab No. 1468561 [Reply]
Why is there not a good one? I like being able to sit on my couch and scroll through all my games, looking at the covers. I do kinda like the ability to look at the back of the box, the spine, and the cart/disc art, too, but those things aren't as important. So all I want is a program that lets me do that, lets me sort my games autistically (you'd think the autists that make these things would understand the want for autistic sorting). Why can't I find one that just lets me make subfolders? I've searched online and found people legitimately just telling me to use Windows Explorer. Like yeah, I can make subfolders in that. But it sucks to use it with a controller on the couch, and doesn't look as nice. So why can't I make subfolders in Launchbox? All I want to do is... >sort all games alphabetically >but games within a series should all be in a subfolder together, and inside that subfolder, be sorted by release date. So actually I want all series sorted alphabetically, with different sorting inside the subfolders. (Launchbox Almost lets me do this. I can sort by series, and have one "series" that is "all games," but that's it.) >but within a series subfolder, I want to be able to make further subfolders. I want to group together ports of the same game, for example. When looking through the Sonic folder, I want Sonic 2 for Master System and Sonic 2 for Game Gear to be in the same subfolder. >and I might want another subfolder within that subfolder, because maybe I want to put different translations or romhacks or something together. >ideally, let me put custom art on each subfolder, or just show the art of the first thing in the folder, but with some sort of indication that it's a folder and not the game. Make the folders look nice, is my point. And oh yeah, I want a frontend that doesn't melt my fucking computer when I try to scroll through a list of like ten thousand games. The whole reason I want this is so I can look at boxart of every game ever made, or at least all the ones to come out on carts, since they take so little space by today's standards. Obviously low hardware usage should be top priority for a program that is ultimately this frivolous. I want to use all my hardware on the actual game. I've been using Launchbox, and have used EmulationStation before, but they both kinda suck balls. I've looked into others, but they all seem very similar, with the only difference being that others are even more of a pain in the ass to set up. They have so many useless features, but don't such basic, obvious things. Just let me look at boxart and sort it how I want. Why is that so hard? If they let me use layers of subfolders, it would limit how many jpegs need to be loaded at the same time, so it would presumably make it faster, since somehow that's a problem on Launchbox. I do not care about things like playing videos or demos. I don't even care about custom themes. I don't need any extra features like that. I just want to scroll through tons of boxart until I see one that makes me want to play the game. I just want to feel like I'm at Blockbuster in the '90s, but a Blockbuster that I can sort how I want, because it has too many games and thus needs to be sorted properly. Why is this so hard? You know what else is gay? That I can't just click a button and be taken to a website with the game's manual(s). Ideally I would save all the manuals locally, but that would take too much storage for the amount of games I want. But I know there are websites with tons and tons of manuals. Let me click and be taken right to the manual.
Most frontends are built around the idea of “all games in a flat list, sorted by metadata,” which doesn’t scale well for huge collections and isn’t easy to retrofit with true subfolder navigation. So you're either stuck with Launchbox or you'll have to make compromises with EmulationStation.

>>1399018 I prefer the original, the transaction to 3D didn't hold up and the graphics are pretty bad compared to the 2D pixelated look that the original had
>>1465976 The original has better art style than 2 and Returns tbh, it's simple but gets the idea through without being too flashy

>>1160254 >Imagine unironically recommending PSP and GBA versions. Of what? PSP3 is DS without the online shit that doesn't work anymore (so the only real choice for 3-3D is it or PC, and PC doesn't have speedup or no job change penalty codes). PSP4 is GBA without the bugs+some mobile shit spinoff that's entirely isolated. PSP1 is bad because it's based on easy type, and PSP2 is debatable (it's GBA but with a little extra content and different graphics). Now, GBA1 is easy type and thus shit, GBA4 has major bugs in critical and omnipresent parts of the game (ATB not working right in non-EU versions), but GBA2 is probably the first really playable version of 2 (FC is broken, NES is a literally unfinished mess that's broken AND horribly translated, WSC might be fine except while it introduced Battle Theme B it lacks the cool instrumentation choice of later releases that make it work and I'm not otherwise familiar with it, PS1 has load times. Soul of Rebirth is fine if barren and demanding you understand the game's obtuse systems to not be fucked out the gate.), and GBA5's only issue is the sound (which can apparently be fixed with patches) and slightly lower detail graphics. GBA6 is the only one that's really any debate on: The translation is better, as the SNES version is full of just flat out mistranslations and changes, and some of the new content is actually not just end-game bonus dungeon, but some of the glitches do impact balance, there's a removed scene (patches can reinsert), and the usual sound/graphic issues with SNES to GBA . 1 should absolutely be bug fixed NES (not sure of which patch) or translated WSC though. WSC is the last version to retain the difficulty (without adding load times) and fixes many patches while adding tasteful new graphics, but Intelligence still does absolutely nothing, while patches NES is as pure as you can be. OG NES has totally fucked balance due to glitches (Thief is useless due to his main specialties being bugged to not work, and when he becomes a Ninja many of the spells he'd want to use just don't work properly so he's just a Warrior that can cast Haste in exchange for being worse in every other way)

Persona 4 Remake confirmed Anonymous 05/29/2025 (Thu) 03:05:51 Id: 5b1405 No. 1413636 [Reply] [Last]
And the old voice actors have been replaced. >A potential remake of Persona 4 Golden (or maybe even just vanilla Persona 4) has been rumoured for quite a while now, but it seems as though one of the original's voice actors has confirmed its existence. >Speaking on social media, Yuri Lowenthal, voice actor for Persona 4's Yosuke Hanamura, stated that he expressed a desire to return as the character for the remake, but unfortunately confirmed that Atlus apparently doesn't want him back. His deleted tweet <"And for those who keep asking, no, I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake. I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don’t want me to come back." >Aside from the frankly bizarre decision to recast the role of Yosuke, Lowenthal's statement is the surest sign yet that a Persona 4 remake is on the way. Switch fans sadly missed out on the excellent Persona 3 Reload when it launched in 2024, but with the Switch 2 right around the corner, we reckon a port of Reload and a release of Persona 4 remake is practically inevitable. >Persona 4 Golden, the PS Vita revamp of the original game, made its way to the Nintendo Switch in 2023 after years of requests from staunch fans. It was also joined by Persona 3 Portable and Persona 5 Royal. The series stands as one of the most accomplished in the JRPG genre thanks to its effortlessly cool style and deep social mechanics. >>1458971 I find it hilarious how retards bash on Kaneko's art for having "too much tits and dicks" when your average myth literally goes like: >This deity is bored one day, so he kidnapped a married human woman and raped her >Not content, he then kidnapped the woman's husband and raped him too >The man got pregnant and gave birth to a demi-god, whom the deity also raped >Deity's sister voiced his discontent, to which the deity answered by slicing her in half >The sister then separated into two goddesses, one the goddess of vanilla sex and the other the goddess of cuckoldry >The deity, immensely bored, had a threesome with his sister >A brilliant idea comes to the deity, he clones himself and holds a massive orgy in which he rapes his clones
