Haste Shattered Worlds. Anonymous 04/17/2025 (Thu) 20:22:00 Id: 401019 No. 1118713 [Reply] >>1384390
Has anyone played this? I beat the first shard, did a bit of the endless victory lap, and started the second shard, but I'm not feeling it. To put it simply, I'm not sure the randomly generated levels and rougelite, Slay The Spire-esque structure were the play here.

People's main critique seems to revolve about the random generation, but can you really handcraft many levels in a game that's this fast? Are you gonna spend much time thinking about where to place the 100th cactus when the typical player is zooming past it at a gorillion miles an hour? You could slow it down and make it more themed about deliberate platforming, but then you're basically making a different game. Games like sonic have always just stopped you dead in your tracks to do some precision platforming/stage gimmick and that's generally the only thing stopping levels from having minute clear times. Either way, I got my moneys worth out of it.
>>1223397 I don't think it's as hard as that, since these levels are pretty simple as a baseline, as they are largely flat lines/curves with hills.
>>1118713 (OP) I played the demo and felt like it was a great movement system that is completely wasted by the asinine decision to attach it to a procedurally generated roguelike good movement needs good level design to reach its full potential

>>1323608 >the level where you have to escape the drills ? The level where reinforcements arrive by train and Shadow knocks you off a crane It has the same geometry as the courtyard in marsarena, with some added bits
I guess I need some more tips because I'm getting totally wrecked in the secondary missions. The enemies are just spawning non-stop from every direction, including right behind me, to the point where I barely have enough time to reload, let alone heal or do any hacking objectives. Mostly I've been using the BOSCO because of all the snipers in New Eden. Should I switch to the KA?
>>1383163 >The enemies are just spawning non-stop from every direction Yes, that's what they tend to do. >Mostly I've been using the BOSCO because of all the snipers in New Eden. Should I switch to the KA? The BOSCO is all you should need outside of heavily armored enemies and helicopters. Make sure to learn to use it unscoped.

>>1381687 > I'm not spending more money than my entire fucking computer cost on a VR headset If you think that's expensive, just get a Q3. Not even to disparage you or anything, poverty is not a sin. It's a perfectly fine headset and a massive upgrade over index. Spend everything else you have on upgrading your PC. In a year, you will have a lot more to chose from HMD wise.
>>1381695 It's not even a matter of poverty, but in value for the dollar. I'm not going to get the mileage out of those VR headsets to justify spending over a grand a half on a headset - especially when the VR game industry is relying on shovelware just to maintain life support. I'll mostly be using it for sims. At any rate, a Quest 3 would be a downgrade from the Reverb G2, so I don't want to go that route.
>>1381721 >a Quest 3 would be a downgrade from the Reverb G2 Not really. G2 is the worst headset. Even for simmers running quest 3 wired would a massive upgrade over g2. For everyone who actually uses the controllers, you don't even need to say anything. G2 just can't compete, objectively. It's just worse at everything.

A thread for anything related to 3D printing and video games: figurines, controller stands, battery covers that keep getting lost, cool cases, mods and enhancements, etcetera. What cool enhancements, whether practical or just aesthetic, should I print for my old consoles? Say, for example, my Sega Genesis model 2?

>>1344013 It depends how intelligent/how strong your 3rd eye is. Dreams are less defined than reality because you're a further step down in the hierarchy. Kan Gao's games The memory machine series of games are coming to an end. To The Moon made a big splash when it released 14 years ago. But its sequels didn't have as much staying power on Youtube and in general public gaming discourse. I think that's a shame, because the series as a whole (including the various minisodes and side games) are very good! I hope he sticks the landing with The Last Hour.

Video games aren't made for us anymore. They're made for normies who'll drool over muh pretty graphics and muh cinematic experience. All depth in video games is being stripped away so their primitive minds can understand. That's why Diablo sucks now That's why Monster Hunter sucks now That's why Elder Scrolls sucks now That's why Tekken sucks now You're not the target audience. I remember my friend showed me red dead 2 and was so excited to see me play it. I nearly fell asleep. He pushed me into getting a copy and I couldn't get past the intro out of boredom. I asked him what he liked about the game and he told me he enjoyed the story and music. I tried to get my friend into smhups and classic Monster Hunter and he told me they were too frustrating.

>>1380225 (OP) >That's why Diablo sucks now >That's why Elder Scrolls sucks now >That's why Tekken sucks now All of those series began to suck long ago. Diablo 3 was a disaster for being always online, Oblivion was ridiculed for walking back many of the advancements that Morrowind provided, and all the additions from Tekken 4 were practically removed in every later game because competitive fags bitched and moaned. The only one that began to suck "recently" was Monster Hunter. >I remember my friend showed me red dead 2 and was so excited to see me play it. I nearly fell asleep. He pushed me into getting a copy and I couldn't get past the intro out of boredom. I asked him what he liked about the game and he told me he enjoyed the story and music. Ask him if he's played Gun, or any of the Call of Juarez games. >I tried to get my friend into...classic Monster Hunter Why would you do a thing like that when Freedom Wars and God Eater exist? >he told me they were too frustrating Because it is. "Classic" Monster Hunter is a bitch. There's a reason why people tell newfags to start with 4G or even 3G. And shmups have always required a special kind of autism if you want to play those. Unironically, I think the most "normalfag friendly" you can get with that is Galaga Arrangement. After that, it's introducing him to "proper" shmups through either the Milestone Shooting Collection on the Wii, or getting him to install old Psikyo games on his phone like Dragon Blaze: https://apps.qoo-app.com/en/app/15863 Strikers 1945: https://apps.qoo-app.com/en/app/11511 And Gunbird 2: https://apps.qoo-app.com/en/app/15461 >>1380296 >God I hate normalfags. Just go watch a film at that point. Anon, sound is an extremely important part of media. Sonic, Halo, and Smash Bros. are undeniable proof of this. And as for stories being a "bad" reason to play a game, explain why people still defend Blood Omen and Deus Ex to this day. If anything, I'd say that it kind of shows how little people have been exposed to the other games that have come out previously. That something like RDR2 "blows" their mind.

>>1377657 (OP) Horror games were always more niche than RPGs. Survival Horror is even more niche when most devs are pushing the action genre on everything, so those survival horror fags are happy to get + support whatever they can. RPGs on the other hand, have a far larger audience and catalogue of vidya so that is going to bring in more retards. Those retards are of course going to be vocal about it, and that is going to cause tribal mentality to kick in with two sides that now can't stand each other.

Thanks for letting me know about this. I gave up on emulating it on a PSP emulator due to inconsistent input delay, and I can't really find anyone that can fix a PSP, give me a new charger and battery, and isn't going to charge a fortune for those after 2018.

Ports that are completely different games Anonymous 03/25/2025 (Tue) 16:29:20 Id: 150ba4 No. 1082590 [Reply] [Last]
A really interesting phenomenon prominent during the 2000s, but existed outside of it. It wasn't uncommon for a game to launch on 5-7 different platforms with each version being a completely different game, this was especially common for tie-in games. Though I'm less interested in that, and more interested in the games that were something else entirely. Be it a different campaign like Quake 2 N64, or just an entirely original game like the GBA Daikatana Zelda-like. I'd like to hear about more of these I'm unaware of.

Are there any good ones out there? Everything that I tried that was not a Hellshard was clunky, slow, and what you might call "not a game" (just perform the same action over and over for identical combat encounters, indefinitely). Also a place for reminiscing about the good times in GONDO (rip GONDO). Poast here if we haven't talked in a while. Hellmoo forks 8ch has played in the past: InfernoMOO: inferno.optiquest.org:7777 The good fork of HellMOO. GONDO moved here after Helle got too gay and carebear. All the fun and glory of no-holds-barred HellPVP with some additions - new muts, new weapons, mutation points system instead of slots, keep your journal XP on reroll. Sadly dead most of the time, but it has had occasional revivals. SamsaraMOO: moo.samsara-moo.com:7999 Hell but with even more carebear. Mostly socializing and PvE, but it's also where all the Helle refugees went when that closed. Good pop at all hours of the day. PissMOO: ipiss.rocks:7155 Remember that really weird fork where you could be a robot and have four arms and it was busted as shit? It still exists, just even more dead than Inferno. Wayfar 1444: website at https://wayfar1444.com/ Not something we've played together and not even a hellfork, but built on Hellcore. Total sci-fi conversion, very cool, closed in 2016 but apparently it's coming back? Does anyone know anything about this?

i always wanted to try the one that Everquest was loosely based on, DikuMud. i think there were a couple of others that were influential as well but DikuMud was the big one, IIRC it had a lot of similar classes/races and stuff.
