Turok! Anonymous 08/08/2025 (Fri) 22:55:03 Id: 15d18d No. 1642192 [Reply] [Last]
I AM TUROK! I started playing it again since the trilogy went on sale. Still very fun but there isn't nearly as many enemies as I remembered it being. Also level 4 is aids. 8 teleporters and only 1 leads to a key. Have fun figuring out which is which. The only game in the trilogy I haven't played is three and I am wondering if I even want to play turok 2 once I am done with 1 or if I should jump to 3. I never see anyone talk about 3. I used to see a bit of talk about turok 2 and the head drill but 3 seems to have been forgotten. I also recently found out they are making a new one. Its a third person shooter though. I only know about it because I was looking for turok on steam. I knew more about that one chibi top down game than this new (seemingly) higher budget game. Did that chibi game even come out? Turok is cool but it seems condemned to obscurity. I wonder if that guy with his n64 and actual physical copy of turok 1 is still here.

There's movie versions too.

What racing games have you guys been playing recently?

Is there a "best" version of Forza on PC? Anytime I'm in the mood for racing sims, I still just emulate Gran Turismo 4. >>1105984 I knew of two places that had them for sure, and they're both gone. There might have been a third arcade I've been to that had them, but I might be misremembering at that point.
Been playing some Gran Turismo 5 and some Dirt Rally 1 & 2, waiting on TXR to not be early access, I also replayed HP2010 recently and yeah still feels good but still not NFS >>1717443 >Is there a "best" version of Forza on PC? Not really the one that are still accessible are all bad and pirating older ones is kind of sketchy iirc as it requires specific windows versions Though iirc people have had great success in emulating the x360 titles even on modest computers, especially FH1 which apparently handles 120fps like a champ.
>>1717535 Shame. I remember a lot of shittalking about Forza Motorsports 8 at the Dorito Pope Awards back in 2023 because a lot of basic features were cut. 7 wouldn't run for me at all, and the one Horizons game I played it was 5, felt like a slightly more cartoony Test Drive Unlimited but with Current Year + 8 shit in it. The two things I liked in Forza over Gran Turismo was starting with the second game, where I could customize the car's aesthetics so it didn't look like I'm racing a car that came straight out of a dealership, and the fact that I didn't need to do the license test bullshit to unlock harder races.

What is the official /v/ consensus on this game? I'm shit at it but I love the presentation of it. I wish I was better so I could enjoy it more thoroughly and finish it.

It was fun. Totally dropped the ball in the residential sector. XP scale is retarded and not really achievable. Anteverses peak at Flathill and never recover, which is bad because Flathill is the second anteverse. They rehash Far Garden like five times. The last zones become a slog, reactors in particular. There are four fission reactors that need to be powered. One is a huge set piece battle between ordo forces and gatekeeper forces. One is a ten minute walk. One is a fifteen minute walk. One is a wave defense. So two reactors are barely really there. Shadowgate is too short. Praetorium is very samey and repetitious. Fragments was cool at first and rapidly becomes tedious. The garden sector was just a pain. The residential sector is just 5 stories tall of copy pasted dorms, 2 levels of which are inaccessible due to a blizzard. You can do the whole zone in 10 minutes.
>>1717418 >What is the official /v/ consensus on this game? Gain about 300 ng/dL and learn what independent thought is. It's a really interesting game, for sure. I genuinely enjoyed it, even alone. I'm waiting until it's feature/story complete until I play again.

Metal Gear Solid Anonymous 04/22/2025 (Tue) 16:46:57 Id: 207b17 No. 1212615 [Reply] [Last]
What happened to this franchise? It was once upon a time a very popular and beloved series. Did a zombie game really ruin their momentum? Or was it Hideo Kojima leaving? I have a lot of great memories playing these games and the only thing they released in the past 7 years are remasters. The remaster collection did great but I can't see why they couldn't make another solid (what a great joke lmao) game in the series for modern fans. If you ever played MGS1 on the Playstation 1, there was nothing like it. No doubt it catapulted the PS1 to levels it never would have done otherwise.

>>1692623 No, it's Guy Savage.
>>1715225 iirc, in the overarching story, the dystopian AI hellhole shown in 2 and 4 pretty much IS SIGINT's fault. Zero has the idea for information control and suppression, and that was done by *people* in MSGV to obscure the fact that Big Boss lived through the attack on the first MB. During that, Skull Face tortured the information of Zero's real whereabouts - Hell's Kitchen - to deliver him a package with a parasite infestation that nearly kills him on the spot. He's able to hit a panic button before falling unconscious, but his faculties slowly decline even after he's rescued. After he recovers enough to make decisions, he passes Cipher's control over to SIGINT and commissions the Patriot AI to handle information control, and pretty much just waits for death while lamenting Big Boss' near death and the schism they had over Les Infants Terribles. SIGINT develops the AI into something completely autonomous, but it also exists to propagate itself. SIGINT is a nigger. He's smart, but he did not have the forethought to realize that a self-propogating information control system would fall into information control loops that would lead to war as a commodity and the war economy. War is profitable, war keeps the information machine relevant, therefore pockets of war were constantly popping up around the world, exacerbated by the Sons of the Patriots system. There's a human element to control that he missed entirely, which Big Boss saw pretty clearly before his final defeat at Zanzibarland. This is also one of six founders of a shadow group that effectively controls the world - and in a period of slow worldwide demilitarization, was either bribed or in total agreement with the Metal Gear REX project. Ironically, that period in history was the closest that Cipher/the Patriots came to realizing the Boss' dream of a unified world.

Most Obscure Game >(You) Personally Know Anonymous 05/30/2025 (Fri) 01:56:23 Id: 1eef7b No. 1416920 [Reply] [Last]
There are countless strange games out in the ether, most of them lost to time but a good portion saved by virtue of autistic retards the world over. Titles you've probably tossed your glance past at Gamestop or Best Buy years maybe even decades ago, or scrolled past without a second thought through a Steam sale at -95% off. Myabandonware has a ton of them, and whatever you might think of GoG they at least seem intent of picking up whatever old or forgotten games they can get their hands on to re-release for modern audiences. I watch a lot of Youtube channels and (((video essays))) about obscure games, so I'm no stranger to a lot of them: Mizzurna Falls (proto-Deadly Premonition), E.V.O.: Search for Eden (proto-Spore), Garage: Bad Dream Adventure (proto-Jap/Slavjank?), Hellnight (proto... Resident Evil 3, sort of?), and countless others. They all seem to shine a little bit more of a light on the thought process of early game devs, or help to elucidate how trends and concepts have shifted and changed over the years, adapting to changing technology and the ever shifting target of what makes a game "good" or even "successful." If nothing else, it's fun to see how the seeds of future classics were present years before their release in some odd off-the-wall title probably forgotten by most. Inevitably, though, there are always more games yet to be unearthed, titles yet to be revealed to the masses, whether they're old 3DO or Dreamcast titles never localized, limited-run PC games from companies who had their lives cut short, or simply some odd concept that managed to fly under the radar for decades after release. You can only play so many games in one lifetime, and honestly the best way to learn about truly unique or obscure things is by word of mouth. Which is why I ask you... What is the most obscure game you know of?

I haven't seen a thread discussing stylish action for a while, let's change that. Honestly I was kinda disappointed with Bayonetta 3, it wasn't nearly as good as the previous two games and I feel basically killed the series seeing as Kamiya left Platinum in order to work at Hamster probably. Still, it's kinda sad that Bayonetta was destined to die a mediocre death. That said as for Bayonetta's twin IP Astral Chain, apparently Nintendo completely owns the rights to that IP now, so hopefully we can see them develop the sequel in house since I would love to see how Nintendo tackles these kinds of games. Other than a few indie games, there's not really much going on with the genre. The Genokids demo was top notch and I highly recommend everyone here give it a chance, but other than that I'm waiting to hear about some surprise hits like Hi-Fi Rush since that was an extremely pleasant surprise and was actually did better than both Microsoft and Bethesda expected it to be. So hopefully we'll see a new Hi-Fi Rush in the future. Other than that, I'm sure Capcom is gonna remake DMC1 or DMC3 at some point in the near future, and like I said before Hi-Fi Rush did surprisingly well. So I strongly doubt the genre is dead, but that it usually takes a bit to get one of these games off the ground since Souls is the hot sauce these days. Still, what cuhrayzee games are you playing right now /v/? I'm going through Ninja Gaiden and God Hand myself, enjoying them as always.

Everything basically rides on his new game reputation-wise so we'll see what happens. But I am not going to write him off that soon like you will because I have enjoyed the experiences he delivered when he had the resources.

Welp, they're officially remaking Postal 2 https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/postal2redux/postal-2-redux >as of this post, $170,560 pledged of $250,000 goal >It's finally time to relive a week in the life of The POSTAL Dude, a hapless everyman just trying to check off some chores. POSTAL 2 Redux is a ground-up revival of the filthiest sandbox on Earth: sharper, louder, bloodier, and finally arriving on modern consoles. If you wanted tasteful restraint, you backed the wrong campaign. Same POSTAL. New engine. Zero apologies. <What's New >A modern backbone. We’re hauling POSTAL 2 into Unity so it runs perfectly on modern hardware. This gives us the ability to have completely scalable requirements. Basically, for every platform this comes to it will look as good as it can for the hardware. >Loading Zones, begone! Paradise streams in as you walk. No more load screens. Just roam and ruin. >A complete graphical upgrade. Higher‑resolution textures, upgraded shaders and materials and lighting make every billboard, back alley, and biohazard pop. >Guns with bite. Balancing the combat based on community feedback. Weapons are being rebuilt to hit harder, punch through flesh, and send bodies flopping with proper ragdolls. You’ll feel the boom. >Check out my insides. Shipping malls, restaurants, offices, arcades—stuffed with destructible props. Let loose and see the World explode in front of your eyes. >Crowds that find trouble faster. Civilians still snitch and cops still overreact, but smarter pathing means they get to the chaos quicker and make it messier when they do. >Champ gets promoted from mascot to menace. Pet him, point him, weaponize him. Man’s best friend finally acts like it. >Built to break out of the PC cage. Targeting PC and modern consoles so Paradise can spread its disease broadly and legally. >Quality of life, everywhere.
