Myths Are 100% True Anonymous 11/24/2025 (Mon) 09:33:01 Id: b83976 No. 1960596 [Reply]
The game came out last week, after the demo had been around for a while. It's a platformer with a style meter for killing lots of enemies together. But most importantly it's pretty funny, like a dumb newgrounds game from 20 years back. Has good music, too.

>>1961230 Oh I like the distortion when you get hit and these songs are not bad at all. Gameplay concept looks to be a nice twist on normal platforming. My only concern is that this look far too easy but my interest is piqued.
>>1974259 It can be rushed through without much problem, but going for a high style score takes more effort. You need to hit as many enemies as possible with a single shot.

Yakuza Thread Anonymous 09/14/2025 (Sun) 02:25:18 Id: 29298d No. 1750825 [Reply] [Last]
I had been wanting to get into the Yakuza series for awhile, but didn't know where to start, so I got a used copy of the remastered collection. I just started playing Yakuza 3. It feels like it's taking forever to actually get started, but I'm interested to see where everything goes. It seems like it could be really fun once things finally get going. However, I later found out a lot of people consider it the worst game in the series, and that makes me wonder if I should even keep playing it. Some say to skip the first five games altogether, while others say everything after Yakuza 5 is fake nu-Yakuza, especially the remakes or 1 and 2. Who is telling the truth? Also, general Yakuza thread.

Okay so one minor nugget of good news. They've announced that Yakuza 0 Directors Cut will actually have an upgrade path, so you don't need to buy Yakuza 0 for full price again if you only want to play that Online Multiplayer mode. That's all for the good news. Bad news time. SEGA/RGG are impressively managing to burn all the good will they've accumulated since Yakuza 0 originally released. >You don't get the Y0 Upgrade path if you own a physical copy of the game. >Vanilla Yakuza 0 is being delisted from pretty much everywhere except GOG. This incudes the PS4 and Xbox One versions. Now the writing on the wall for them getting greedy has been there since at least Infinite Wealth where they locked NG+ and harder difficulty modes behind Day One DLC. So it's hard to say this is surprising, but what is surprising is that they type of people who would normally take this type of ass fucking gladly, aren't happy either because it turns out that Teruyuki Kagawa the actor they got to be the new likeness of Hamazaki, apprently is a little too good at playing the role of a sleeze Yakuza since he Sexually Assaulted/Harassed some Hostesses. So now the redditor types are up in arms about that, and want him taken out of Kiwami 3, tho I doubt that's gonna happen. So as of right now, pretty much nobody paying attention to current events is happy with the current state of the series.
>>1967426 As with most franchises, its now being milked for every drop of passion fans used to have. That being said, if you already played them all, and experience for what they used to be, why care what they do to them now?
>>1972894 Yeah, pretty much. It's hard to get too upset when this franchise managed to maintain a relatively solid track record for almost 20 years straight, and only now things are getting to the more dicey side. I mean, it's easy to point at these obvious money oriented business decisions and criticize them, but we haven't even gotten to the point where one of these games is out right shit yet. It's more so the outside things surrounding the games that are an issue.

Is there a good text/webpage guide on the game to easily follow along with in your first world? There's a bunch of jewtube tutorials but loading up an hour long video and following along with it is kind of fucking annoying so I never end up getting anywhere in the game.
>>1926109 Get in the habit of pressing H while inside the game. H opens the guide and the very first few results at the top are general progression guide and mechanics explained. You can then type to search anything you want to know, and you can hold shift and press H while looking at any block to know what it's made of, makes, and which mechanics interact with it. It's more than enough and I played the entire game like this my first time, it's more exciting.
Played my way to steel and will be doing the devastation this weekend probably. Tried my share of mods too. didn't touch multiplayer or creative but I think I've experienced most of what the game has to offer in survival mode for now on a surface level at least. game feels pretty raw and a bit clunky at times but I had a great time. anyways, thoughts on hytale?

How the fuck do I get to the final area? I beat Lodskin, and nothing happened. I looked up a guide and it says I need to talk to Shirley in the Oath of Epitome but she's just not fucking there? I looked through all previous locations and she's just fucking nowhere to be found. So I'm literally unable to finish the game.

Are there any mods that make new clans that spawn into campaigns not just the faction leader + {'s clan}? Seems like such a trivial fix they already have a random clan name generator when starting the game. Not setting life and death off is also kind of funny but offspring are usually set to minimum height/weight and nobleman/women seem to have a 50/50 chance of having either gender's clothing so you end up with deformed men in women's clothing and so on. I used a mod to manually create better looking nobles but I don't get how they aren't fixing stuff like this I mean they're going to release DLC in a month and it's still neglected like this.

War Sails is out. $24 though there is a few bucks off for a discount at the moment. I skimmed the "Mixed" reviews: >ship combat is fun if a little janky at times >it adds a lot more shit to do/play with >new faction >boat customization and culture specific ships/upgrades <buggy and crashing frequently <new questline has issues <priced too high for what it offers <new faction feels lacking/weak <broke all the mods again I'll probably try it out once the price gets down to around $10ish. That will probably be a while, but they still need to patch it anyway so I don't mind waiting for a better and cheaper experience.

Pistols Anonymous 11/25/2025 (Tue) 00:00:47 Id: 00062b No. 1962203 [Reply]
I think out of all games SIN has the best pistols. It feels good to use and in episodes it 1 hit kills most enemies with a headshot. It makes me wonder why other games cant ever have good pistols. I was playing Doom 3 earlier and the pistol in that game is genuine garbage. Only good for zombies and even then its pretty bad. I am trying to think of other shooters that have genuinely good pistols you would want to use past the first level and the best I can think of is borderlands. I was going to say Borderlands has good pistols but the pestilent defiler is a revolver and not a pistol. I kinda like the FEAR pistols since you can duel wield them and they feel kinda good to use. I am just assuming that they dont want the player feeling too mighty at the start. Obviously you cannot have the player starting the game with a handheld nuke but I think its a real shame that it comes at the expense of making most pistols useless.

A new publisher, Gameplay Group, is buying the rights to cancelled games in an effort to finish their development. Anonymous 10/11/2025 (Sat) 19:33:36 Id: d66e1a No. 1838305 [Reply] [Last]
Them's Fightin' Herds and Diesel Legacy are among them. https://archive.ph/bkQqV https://thegameplaygroup.com I was going to post this in minor news, but though it was interesting enough for a thread. Earlier they prematurely launched their games page, which has since been taken down, but it showed the aforementioned games along with others. Something about GG is it seems very different to other publishers, both in presentation and what they do. I feel this is ultimately a doomed company from the get go, but an original idea. Would (you) have any hopes for them?
43 posts and 14 images omitted.
>>1838305 How many publishers are actually willing to sell their stuff? I thought most of them would take the "it's my IP to sit on and do nothing with" stance.
>>1904048 It released. I don't know the whole story but things got messy and development suddenly stopped, leaving the game in a rough state. Mike Z is on their team and TFH uses his engine so it seems like a natural pick for them. Skullgirls is in a similarly abandoned state right now. There's a non-zero chance that Mike could work on it again and hopefully bring Alex Ahad back on as well.
>>1903905 Fighting games are such industry poison these days. They all flop unless they come from Crapcom, Namco, or ArcSys. Even if they have short term popularity, normalfags forget about them quickly. These new publishers need to pick up a more coveted IP in order to lift off, like Fallout Van Buren or Half Life 3

Most Obscure Game >(You) Personally Know Anonymous 05/30/2025 (Fri) 01:56:23 Id: 1eef7b No. 1416920 [Reply] [Last]
There are countless strange games out in the ether, most of them lost to time but a good portion saved by virtue of autistic retards the world over. Titles you've probably tossed your glance past at Gamestop or Best Buy years maybe even decades ago, or scrolled past without a second thought through a Steam sale at -95% off. Myabandonware has a ton of them, and whatever you might think of GoG they at least seem intent of picking up whatever old or forgotten games they can get their hands on to re-release for modern audiences. I watch a lot of Youtube channels and (((video essays))) about obscure games, so I'm no stranger to a lot of them: Mizzurna Falls (proto-Deadly Premonition), E.V.O.: Search for Eden (proto-Spore), Garage: Bad Dream Adventure (proto-Jap/Slavjank?), Hellnight (proto... Resident Evil 3, sort of?), and countless others. They all seem to shine a little bit more of a light on the thought process of early game devs, or help to elucidate how trends and concepts have shifted and changed over the years, adapting to changing technology and the ever shifting target of what makes a game "good" or even "successful." If nothing else, it's fun to see how the seeds of future classics were present years before their release in some odd off-the-wall title probably forgotten by most. Inevitably, though, there are always more games yet to be unearthed, titles yet to be revealed to the masses, whether they're old 3DO or Dreamcast titles never localized, limited-run PC games from companies who had their lives cut short, or simply some odd concept that managed to fly under the radar for decades after release. You can only play so many games in one lifetime, and honestly the best way to learn about truly unique or obscure things is by word of mouth. Which is why I ask you... What is the most obscure game you know of?

>>1964200 >Devil on G-String was amazing Eh... I liked it early on, but the main "twist" really spoiled the charm for me. Other routes literally became nonsense once you walk back through it with that revelation in mind. Oh also, the main villain literally being the terminator despite this otherwise being a pretty normal and grounded setting was just stupid. I dropped it about the 5th time he completely 100% died only to show up in the very next scene like nothing ever happened. Like, this was a serious story at one point and now it's just shlock out of nowhere.

Bishoujo Super Street Fighter II: Glamor Queen Anonymous 06/03/2025 (Tue) 14:31:22 Id: 7500ef No. 1432013 [Reply]
Bishoujo Super Street Fighter II: Glamor Queen and the New Femme Fatales is a Combo ROM Hack of the Sega Genesis version of Super Street Fighter II, where some of the fighters are replaced with female characters from various franchises. It could be one of the first of its kind, like the numerous ROM Hacks of Streets of Rage 2 & 3. An intent is to make the game easier to beat. The fighter replacements, in order that they were made: Blanka is changed to Roll from Mega Man, Dhalsim is changed to Mai Shiranui from Fatal Fury and King of Fighters, E. Honda is changed to Choi Jadoo from Hello Jadoo, Fei Long is changed to Emily from Unholy Night: The Darkness Hunter, Dee Jay is changed to Madonna from Makeruna! Makendou 2, Boxer is changed to Avra Yumeno and Belva Lina, both original creations, with the former being created for this ROM Hack. Jadoo and Avra's sprites were not cheap, and the other characters were given several newly drawn sprites overall. Roll is a lethal joke character who is a one trick pony, Mai is a no brainer of a character choice with a relatively balanced moveset, Jadoo is given the Chibi Back Dash, can double jump and can cheese you with her Hundred Hand Slap and Headbutt, Emily can Air Dash and kill you from throws, Madonna is an insane combo character who can take you out quickly, Avra has high priority normals that do block damage, and Belva can use MvC2 Sentinel's flight with no transitions. BSSF2: Glamor Queen had spawned a lot of playthroughs in its first couple of months when it was released. Many of the videos I saw would either use external cheats or spam the same moves over and over again, which to me is boring to watch. It also means that they don't take advantage of the other things that the characters have to offer. Some features include: -Fighter Replacements -Charge Times Disabled, Air Specials -Back Dashes (Emily and Madonna can also Forward Dash) -Guard Cancels into Dashes that can be followed with Special Moves -Easier Arcade Mode (CPU no longer damage cheats) -New Moves, such as Zangief's Coconut Thunder and Sagat's Tiger Dive -Getting hit out of Empty Jumps by non-knockdown attacks makes you drop down
