>>1601573 Sure, but do they do 3D? Yeah, it was a gimmick, but it is the defining gimmick of the 3DS, and I think some of that magic gets lost when just emulating the 2DS, instead of a 3DS.

I hate the fairy type Anonymous 04/17/2025 (Thu) 04:42:21 Id: 8f6f9e No. 1108346 [Reply] [Last]
>Cleffa >218 BST >but just because he's of the fairy type he can negate all damage from attacks such as Outrage, Draco Meteor or Dragon Rush >can safely switch and cancel a sword dance Garchomp outrage or dragon dance flygon outrage MAKE IT MAKE SENSE I hate the fairy type. I did ever since it was introduced, because it was strictly for gameplay balance reasons and Game freak never really succeeded in making the type feel natural compared to Dark or Steel. On top of that, it lessened the reward in raising slow-grower Dragon type pokemon. The investment and commitment they needed gave you a strong mon that was close to invincible but now some random can switch in her snubull and cancel your outrage domination.

>>1635401 Gens III and IV also had plenty of replacement Pokemon. But the problem is that some are replaced while some old ones are just there like before. Either replace them all or keep them all. Frankly, I don't give a fuck about new Pokemon, at least if the new ones are just replacements, which they always have been, with maybe the exception of Gen II, where you could get basically all the old ones, and the new ones were largely to promote gimmicks like the day/night cycle, or the new types. Rather than removing old ones just to replace them, I'd rather they just stuck with the originals and just give me new adventures with them.
>>1636637 I didn't like how Gen II handled new Pokemon, they should had gave us the options to use new mons too without any insane gimmicks. The fact that Misdreavus is locked behind end game, the new ghost type pokemon is outrageous. Pokemon from Kanto to Johto with cross-gen evolutions + unused beta mons should suffice. The issue with this mindset is that it can be stale. There's nothing wrong with giving new mons the highlight. Especially when there's something as good as Hydreigon or Spinda.
>>1635401 >unique originality is overrated. shit just needs to be good. just because something is original does not make it good (or bad) >inspiration another meme buzzword people toss around to defend rehashes they like. just like rehash is used to criticize knockoffs one doesn't like. it's always like this: if I like it, it's inspiration. if I don't, it's shameless plagiarism

Video Games from your childhood you can't find Anonymous 05/07/2025 (Wed) 10:37:56 Id: 28a1d9 No. 1327277 [Reply] [Last]
Last thread I talked about a game I played as a kid I couldn't find, it was Magic Dream (Волшебный сон), a Russian kids game on CD from 1997 by Nikita Online. How my father got his hands on this I have no idea, as I live super far from Russia. https://1c.ru/vendors/nikita/MAGDREAM/MAGDREAM.HTM I recently went around searching a game from my teens I played when I first got an Ipod Touch and was somehow able to find it despite modern search engines being mostly shit. It's was 2009-2010 game called Destroy 9, by a sole gook Jongha Back, via his company NaomicSoft. I can't even find gameplay footage of it anymore https://apps.apple.com/fj/app/war-game-destroy-9/id550881679 It was a complete clusterfuck of a strategy action game where you produced and controlled units in real time in a 2D view with tons of SFX on screen. The localization was so bad I don't even remember what the objective was. There were like 6 versions of the same game as well with slight differences. Just complete insanity to the point I thought it was a fever dream The gook is still making games and his blogspot is still open, https://naomicsoft.blogspot.com/2010/04/destroy9_18.html Ask anons about games you don't remember or the ones you did end up finding here.

>>1367786 I still remember playing a shitton of freeware compiled into disks, marketed as 100 GAMES INTO ONE And then sold for like 7-10 bucks, tons of stuff I still remember, including some music jingles in some games.
>>1367786 > space invaders clone where you had a willy instead of a defense ship, and you were shooting sperm to take down ovum flying at you (that looked like bologna slices due to the CGI graphics). Also, the shields were condoms... I've had stranger faps tbh.
I remember this strictly from my childhood and I've played these two games very rarely butbI prefered one over the other by a lot when I was a child. 1st one was an breakout/arjanoid clone that used a very metallic and industrial aestetic while it used a radioactive symbol somewhere either for the ball or for the cursor, but that might be misremembering from stalker (which I haven't played) 2nd one us strategy game featuring very very caricatures of farners, knights and such, dunno if it was a fantasy or not but I know the gameplay was bassically a tower attack game where you move units from one base to another in predestined paths dunno how the actual game type it is called and if you know It'd help me. Might look deeper into it then internet by actually taking a look at grandpas computer if they are still there since I own it now

>>1246154 After some time, i thought about how hard Kyle Hyde had it. After losing his father, he become a cop, and is unable to solve his old man case, then he find a girl and she end up dead along the way without being able to prevent it, and then his best friend end up betraying him for his family and at that point, he cling to the hope that he could at least find closure on Bradley to not hit beyond rock bottom, just to realize that after writing that letter, Bradley ended up dead as well. For a series of games where the mystery happen across mundane places, people and situations, Hyde was a really tragic character. Hotel Dusk and Last Window were able to transmit, inmensely and very well, the feeling of defeated people.

With Sonic X Shadow Generations coming out in less than a week, now is a good time for a new Sonic thread. Personally I'm quite excited for the game, and am surprised it hasn't already leaked since it usually leaks around this time. Although I'm kinda disappointed we haven't seen a proper Adventure remake yet, hopefully this game will be good and will lead to good things as time goes on. Oh, and hopefully we'll get a Shadow remake that's actually good this time. I doubt SEGA has the balls to make that kinda game in the modern age though. Are you looking forward to Shadow Generations? Do you think we'll get more Sonic stages as DLC? Or will the game just be average and a waste of money and the cycle will repeat itself all over again, even though Frontiers as a modded game is solid. Still, this is the thread to discuss anything and everything Sonic the Hedgehog! please don't porn dump, I'm looking at you Bui

>>1380396 >You mean being a dungeon-crawler rather than an open-world sandbox? You may jest, but you're kind of on the right track. I may not be the best to talk since my only real references of JRPGs are Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest V and Bravely Default, but for the little I've gathered, RPGs and JRPGs are a matter of style that can only be describe with the sum of it's parts, rather than one element or another. The passive turn-based combat, the emphasis in party customization, the complexity of stat modifiers, the random encounters, the middle ages worldbuilding, the maze-like dungeons, the orchestra symphonies, the pocket and stylized art direction, the linear story progression, the multiple playthrough hours and the emphasis on telling a tale rather than just being a game... when you put a handful of those things together, you got something that can be confidently called a JRPG, primarily because they feel much closer to the role playing game pioneers, the pen and paper ones, as well the computer ones.
Been in a mood lately for /x/-type vidya, or at least something that would be approaching that vein of stuff. Recommend me something similar to SMT in terms of dark themes, edge, mystery and overall strangeness, with a strong plot and characters.
>>1380283 Earthbound is a relatively typical JRPG for the SNES era (though better than most). Why wouldn't Earthbound be a JRPG? The non-medieval setting?

This is also why I'm a bit ambivalent about using Jolt physics, though it is more hobby and less college project. Jolt isn't exactly the greatest and/or cleanest when it comes to holistic physics, but it's for a video game and not KleinPAT-tier contemporary SIGGRAPH research headed by doctorates. >>1618903 d*mn, RIP

AI RPG Text Adventure Anonymous 11/07/2024 (Thu) 05:36:57 Id: 483d90 No. 1036666 [Reply] [Last]
https://perchance.org/ai-rpg Let's start a thread and share the results of our stories. I've been playing around with this and want to see what others can do with it. This is a digital dm. It can run any campaign you give it and it doesn't seem as restricted like other chat AIs. It goes along with some weird shit. Fantasy, modern day, sci fi. If you can think of it, it can do it if you give it some form of goal. I haven't played around with this part enough, but I assume you can make it stick to different rule sets or game mechanics if you explain it. Fill out the top box with the rules and world building. it will generate a paragraph of setting and other characters. You can then tell it what you'll do next or just hit continue and it will keep the story going without your input (often creating actions on your part). If you don't like something, you can directly edit the story text. Just delete a few lines here and there or rewrite it yourself and it parses that text as it continues the story. If you click generate template on the tracked info, it will keep a track of inventory, stats, character relationships and whatever else you want to write in there like a notepad. Play a game. Post your story highlights in this thread.

Visiting places you grew up in, except they're empty now. Nobody is there, not just from your past, but I mean nobody. Things have shifted in a subtle way, the area seems darker, strange sounds can be heard you didn't hear growing up. The place has been warped by time, and it now has potential for danger. I am speaking from experience, the old neighborhoods I walked through don't look much different, but man there's a bad feeling to them now.
Personally, I think that a middle of nowhere wilderness is scariest of all. You're completely exposed from all angles. >>1250024 >because a lot of horror depends on ambushes and surprise, which cramped locales are naturally conducive to. Or, something comes over the hill and you get to watch it slowly close in on your location. >>1299196 Played a bit of RE4 and I haven't really got to the scary parts yet. It's more a simulator of me and my friends as teens playing about in the woods. >>1478305 The inner-city photos are kinda surreal and feel like a 3d render but that Central Park one and Grand Central Station feel so peaceful. Central Park could be a Spyro hubworld. >>1604432 I like that feeling but it's a different sort of horror. Somewhere you felt safe and comfortable becoming uncanny. It's an all too familiar feeling. I look at games like POSTAL 2 and Cruelty Squad and imagine living in those places. Wanting desperately to go home ...but I already *am*.
Any location can be the best. It depends on how the game does it.
