Huge Prey 2 leaks Anonymous Id: 5112ec No. 1718498 [Reply] [Last]
The infamously cancelled just Prey 2 had a massive wellspring of leaks Everything from the opening to large sections of gameplay. They were posted on YouTube a few days ago and just now discovered. There's an extra video I can't post because it's 10 minutes of gameplay, but I'll link to it. It's an internal demo, I think? https://files.catbox.moe/ttipxb.mp4 It seems the reports of the game being largely finished were true, all the footage looks relatively far into development.

>>1777255 Why would you be skeptical? Have you been completely blind to what's been happening? These companies are scum, always were. Altman, the CEO, was a lawyer kike that somehow got caught in malpractice, got away scot free unlike a goy would and went into videogames, with his connections investing into his company to embezzle money while he picked close friends for positions into executive positions in the company.
>>1777255 (checked) Not shocking. Genuine scumbags are all over the vidya industry. >>1777402 Yeah it seemed like a really cool idea at the time. A shame how that ended up. I also like the idea of a more vertical map than the traditionally wide ones used elsewhere. Too many fags crying wolf would be my guess.

>>1073976 >>1094498 If you're still accepting questions, could you also ask why the industry feels an insatiable "need" to remake/remaster/rerelease absolutely fucking everything? That they cannot leave past games untouched and see it as their mission that they "must", according to them, "update" or "fix" games for the always ambiguous "modern audience" instead of leaving those games the fuck alone. This is extremely important given how Yuji Hori is talking about how a Chrono Trigger remake is on the table: https://archive.ph/jEC6z If it's about keeping these games available to the public, then continuing producing the original game that you released (I don't care how "unrealistic" that sounds, that's your fucking problem) and completely unaltered . Because all that this action by the industry is doing is coming across is (At best) these companies are hurting for money and/or (At worst) incapable of producing another good game because the "greats" games "already" exist.
This will always be Dragon Warrior in my heart. I will never accept the evil you corporate vampires inflict upon people.
>>1073976 >Fingers crossed, I will probably attend a conference where Yuji Horii will take questions from fans. I'm not expecting to get any real answer to the genders/revisionism crap considering he has already expressed his negative opinions on it anyhow, but if you guys have any good questions I can ask of him, please share them with me and I'll report the answers if they let me ask more than one that is. Personally, I just wanted to ask him the design philosophy behind enemy encounters and party members, and whether the use of the same types of attacks for both player characters and monsters was a deliberate choice to subtly teach the player about the game mechanics or if it was just born out of necessity due to hardware limitations, or both. >Hopefully he can also sign some physical copy, or they allow recording or whatever so I can give more validity to my claims. So what ever became of this?!

>>1380283 > I think what makes an RPG a JRPG has more to do with the game philosophies and influences being more akin to the RPG pioneers rather than just the location in which games are developed In the 80s the Japs cloned the first RPGs and made them better by adding art, music, and better stories than the one-paragraph introduction that the average RPG had back then. Over the next 20 years western devs focused on technical experimentation while Square, Enix, and their copycats took a simple combat engine that worked and wrapped great art, great music, and great stories around it. Someone in the 90s or early 2000s noticed the contrast and made the distinction.

Playing on Permadeath Anonymous Id: 2758ee No. 1286214 [Reply] [Last]
Hey /v/iggers. I recently pirated The Last of Us 2. Wasn't a fan of the first game and the sequel seems to have way too many cutscenes, but I really wanted to try it out for a long time since I heard that it has really good stealth and the game is about as gorgeous as games can look. Anyways, there are a ton of options available to you before starting, one of them being related to how death works; you can set it to where you have the traditional reset at a recent checkpoint, reset at the chapter beginning, reset at the act beginning, or reset at the very beginning. I set it to the act beginning, though this did little to discourage me from inpulsively jumping off a cliff to test whether it had an invisible wall. I wanted to ask whether you think there are times where it shouldn't be an option and that a game should force permadeath, or if not quite that, some sort of limit to the amount of times you can die like in arcade games. Do you think it heightens tension to an exciting level or to the point of annoyance?

>>1774798 >Permadeath only fits when the punishment stays somewhat limited, which is why you see it mostly in roguelite nowadays Not really. Try playing a new game self imposing on perma death and watch how much you change your own behaviors. It's a fun experience. Again, you're too much of a casual and need to be hand held into your own decisions, even design choices. I've skimmed over the rest of your post and you're arguing that dying isn't usually your fault in most games? lmao.
>>1775866 >Try playing a new game self imposing on perma death and watch how much you change your own behaviors. Yes, change, to play more meta and optimize the fun out of the game, truly a great improvement. >Again, you're too much of a casual and need to be hand held into your own decisions, even design choices You act like someone who has found a hammer and starts thinking you can use it on everything to good effect, it's not the case I've done deathless in several game (incidentally since I was speedrunning) and frankly it's usually not quite as interesting as you make it seem, just rote memorization and optimization, if anything it's usually baby's first challenge run. >I've skimmed over the rest of your post and you're arguing that dying isn't usually your fault in most games? lmao. Nigga, challenge yourself by learning to read first.
>>1286214 Playing linear games with permadeath is just boring, having to go through the same shit can demotivate you from playing a game. The reason why permadeath works in roguelikes and sandbox games is because restarting is fun, seeing new things, getting different stakes all makes restarting fun

Graphical Stagnation and Regression Anonymous Id: 083375 No. 1061748 [Reply] [Last]
<aka "they're gonna take you to the present, where your screen is fucking unpleasant" the thread >aka grafix discussion bread So I don't think it's much of a secret these days that despite <TAA, with ghosting and trailing <mandatory upscaling <framegen <raytracing and pathtracing more and more games are shipping out in worse technical states asking for more power while less is delivered. There are a myriad of reasons for this state of affairs but TL;DR something systemic is definitely going on and it's led to ripple effects like gamers buying more PC indie titles, reevaluation of the eighth generation, backlash against Unreal Engine, and the Threat Interactive drama. "buy new GPU" is no longer a valid dismissal since Nvidia's poor showing at CES, with barely an uptick in compute and the push for 75% fake frames and neural texture compression. Discuss this hot mess.

Nintendo will host a Nintendo Direct broadcast on September 12 at 6:00 a.m PT / 9:00 a.m. ET, featuring approximately 60 minutes of updates on upcoming Switch 2 and Switch games. Considering its length I assume it'll be a big showing with a ton of games, hopefully some good third party ones as well. I kinda wanna sell my Switch 2 since I use my Steam Deck more these days, but I'm hoping this Direct will give me a few reasons to keep it LIVE NOW USA Stream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWIEv_aksvo JPN Stream: https://youtu.be/B4ZOlKAGdx4

It turns out trannies stuck "body type" shit in the new Digimon game. I’m tired of this shit and I'm sure everyone else is too. Why don’t we submit it as a bug en mass? Bandai Namco has a bug report system with actual people staffing it (years ago I got an actual response for reporting Denuvo as malware. It was denying it, but it was clearly a bewildered human and not a stock response). Since there’s a demo with this tranny shit present, reporters can skip all the normal problems with needing to (claim to) have purchased anything for such filings. The best part is they put it on the same system ticket system that the use for handling billing related issues and the like, the kind governments can turn a company inside out for mismanaging, so they can’t just dump on some libtard intern and let it gatekeep. All you need to report is a free account, which just requires an email address. If you know French, Italian, German, Spanish, Chinese, or Korean (Japanese appears to be only for live service titles. Portuguese doesn’t appear to have its own support page but the Portugese general BN page links to the “North America” one) it’s even better because these will almost certainly go to regional support that’s even harder to gatekeep. For Americas (Latin American Spanish and BR Portugese main Bandai Namco sites link here, though the support directory claims its for North America) https://support.bandainamcoent.com/s/ (PC falls under “submit console game case”. “Online store” is for the singular NB online store alone.) For Europe: https://service-en.bandainamcoent.eu/ “Southeast Asia” (English): https://www.bandainamcoent.asia/sea/contact-us Korean: https://www.bandainamcoent.asia/ko-KR/contact-us (Wow!) Taiwan: https://www.bandainamcoent.asia/tw-tc/contact-us You ever hear how Linux users make up 38.5% of bug reports despite making up only 5.8% of sales? It’s not just because of the nature of Linux users leads to us reporting bugs as a matter of course, but how few “normal” users ever bother filing a bug report or even recognize there’s a process for them. Just a few hundred reports will be way more than they ever get most of the time. Even just forcing them to say it’s intentional choice is a self inflicted humiliation that can be held over their heads (and can maybe thrown at “conservative” media to raise a bigger stink). At worst you wasted a few minutes of time. When reporting 1: Be polite so they can’t just toss it out for that 2:Refer to this as either a serious mistranslation, and/or a sexist slur stuck in the menu by a bad actor. Don’t even humor the idea it’s to appeal to anyone, just treat it with confusion or disgust. 3: Ask if it will be fixed in the final release, mentioning it will effect your decision to purchase if such an obvious issue is fixed or not. Avoid any templates because anti-spam systems can easily ignore all of them. Don’t spam because it gives them an excuse to ignore everything. As a bonus, you can also drop a negative review on the demo, since that's possible now.

Why are there few games about the Mongol Empire? Anonymous Id: d5ddb9 No. 1236110 [Reply]
It's a cool and excellent setting due to the epic diversity of conquest that the Mongols have done. >Unite nomadic tribes to form the Khan. >Defeat Chinese Dynasties that have advanced technology and gunpower weapons. >Utterly destroy Islamic Civilization. >Rampage Russia, Poland and Hungary. >Fight the Egyptian Mamluks. >Fight Japanese Samurai. >Fight against Koreans,Vietnamese, Koreans and Indonesians. >Fight each other through civil wars using their main military and the local troops. But somehow very few games scratch the surface of how epic actual history is.
