Seeking for some geimu suggestion and small review of it Anonymous Id: 85767d No. 1410369 [Reply] [Last]
I'm trying to find some geimus on my own through using Google and the Steam store page and then downloading it afterwards with QBittorrent and then setting it all up with Lutris and Proton wine, and praying to Gayben that it doesn't run like shit. I'm primarily interested in FPS and RPG games. For RPG games I'd would like to have the ability to use a bow and a sword basically and not being limited to only 1 weapon type like how it is common with other RPG games. I am a casual pleb player, so I am not exactly seeking for a challenge. I just want to kill shit and seeing numbers go up. I don't except from anons to make KC tier review post but at least give me some short description of a geimu if its at least fun to play or not. By fun I mean it doesn't contain bullshit mechanic that would piss me off, I don't have patience anymore for games that punishes the player too hard for not gitting gud enough, I'm too old for this shit. So far one of the pirated games I played a lot recently is "My Times at Sandrock" I don't know how to exactly describe it but its well a open world game with crafting system and it's made in piece of shit unity engine but at least it is performant and doesn't lag too much apart from that sometimes it takes ages for assets and menu to load because god knows why. I am not really happy with this game because despite there is combat in this game the only weapons I can access right now are melee weapons which are like at least 4 base variants available as well a upgraded form of it, there is not even at least a fucking bow or crossbows weapon available, there are ranged weapons in this game like pistols and even a assault rifle but they are locked behind some fucking quests which is not open to me yet so I am stuck with this sword and shield combo which pisses me off. I have almost 60 hours in it already in this game according to Lutris. I installed some mods for this game to make it slightly less annoying to play such as extended day time, machine production speed, because those coders had the brilliant idea to tie machine speed to the day time speed and no commission limit so that I can do more than one commissions in this game. <Wigmund I pirated this game but didn't played it for long, I fiddled around with the settings of this game because I'm left handed I always need to change the key binding of games. Anyway so far the performance is not so bad but the way the gameplay works in this game is kinda ass, for example it is not exactly obvious what is interactable or lootable due to lack of any visible hints and clicking on interactable objects feels like it suffers pixel hunting issue, so this game is already a big minus for me. Then I got into combat against a few wolves and died, I noticed too late I didn't made any recent save and then quit because I'm not even told that I need to do regular saves because I cannot be resurrected in this game at all. So far the game doesn't look fun to play. <Ancient Kingdom I played it for only over 1 hour on it and not more. It's a 2D RPG game with a few classes to play as, so I picked the ranger class because it can use bows and swords, just what I wanted. There isn't that many ability to grind for which is a let down, I can't really tell how this games fares in later stage because I didn't leveled up much. I once got my ass kicked by the skeleton boss because I was doing a quest for gathering some flowers and since the skeletons where slightly higher level then me but I could kite them more or less easy I thought I could defeat the first boss but nope I couldn't do it. For some reason the sword weapon does barely any damage compared to the bow I have, yes there is a ability that lets me use a powerful sword attack but it comes with a long 5 second cool down timer which is not really ideal. I may play this game more but if it turns out that its not fun to play I will gladly drop it. <Oblivion remastered Honestly I didn't had much hope for this UE 5 engine shit slop to run well on my machine, I have to turn down the graphics settings to medium and lowering other settings so that I sort of get at least 50-60 FPS frames, I don't even get a stable 60 FPS from this game. I am not really impressed by this remaster, the main reason its just more of the same exact shit like OG Oblivion just slapped down with the piece of shit UE 5 engine. I played of this game for about 31 hours but I ended up playing the OG oblivion for at least over 88 hours instead because it runs well and it has tons of mods for me to install. So the verdict is that I don't want to play this remaster any more and I'd just play OG oblivion instead. <Unreal Tournament 1999 and 2004 Classic Arena Shooter games, I own for the 2004 version a legit german copy which I installed a Blood patch for it already long time ago. I play those games from time to time against bots because its just a simple shooting fun with no dumb shit in it. I play both of those release but I have no preferences for either of these, I like them both. I don't mind having to play against bots as long the bots are not dumb as a brick and they do give me some challenge. But i always end up winning like 100% of the matches because I didn't set the difficulty to any higher. I would love to make some weapon mods for those games but I have no idea how the fuck I am supposed to learn Unreal Script. Man that was back in the time when Epic Games was based and not full of shit.

The Last of Us Season 2: Electric Trannygaloo: The Movie: The Thread Anonymous Id: 2f9241 No. 1087091 [Reply] [Last]
The review embargo just lifted for this wonderful series which I know is near and dear to the hearts of many a /v/irgin, so I am making this thread so we can discuss how the TV adaptation of our favorite video game is going! To start off, here are a few noteworthy articles >'The Last of Us' Season 2 Review: Somehow, the Best Video Game Adaptation Ever Only Got Better https://archive.ph/udHG4#selection-1005.0-1005.94 <While the first game is a fairly straightforward narrative that made perfect sense for an adaptation, the second game, The Last of Us: Part II, is a story that felt like it couldn’t exist with the same power in another medium. There are years of flashbacks, multiple changing viewpoints, and some of the most tragic and difficult losses you’ve ever had to reckon with in a video game. It should be a logistical nightmare for any TV series, and yet, with Season 2, Mazin and Druckmann prove once again why HBO's The Last of Us is the strongest video game adaptation ever. At times, the show might deviate from the path, but it all works, even heightening and improving a phenomenal season of television that does justice to arguably the best story in video game history. >Pedro Pascal Wasn’t Allowed To Play ‘The Last of Us’ Video Game https://archive.ph/irHu5#selection-1005.0-1005.63 <During a video interview prior to the release of The Last of Us, Pascal confessed that while showrunner Craig Mazin asked for his leading actors not to play the game, he picked up the controller anyway. "My nephews were watching me play and eventually got tired of my inability to complete the level, so they took my controller from me," Pascal told IGN during the video interview. "But then we started shooting the show and living in the world ourselves!" Go ahead and post about this shitshow's progress and what your hopes/expectations are, then discuss it in full once it releases! Maybe we'll even get a little /v/-style watch party going? It'll be just like the good old days of watching Gone Home gameplay!!!!!!!!

PC Games of the last two decades (2010-2025) Anonymous Id: 81bb9f No. 1407713 [Reply]
Hey, you /v/iewtiful people, I've been extremely out of the loop for the past few years of PC gaming, but going back to some titles I had on my bucket list I realized that I barely had anything worthwhile to play, buy or pirate. I would really like to be reccommended some of the best or most unique PC games that have come out not just the last few years, but in general since the 2010s (about the time I stopped having a lot of time to play games that weren't portable or emulated stuff or "eternal games" a la TF2). More specifically, I'm asking about games that are first and foremost for the PC (so not ports of console games, unless there's a big reason think Sonic Adventure 1-2 with the modding scene), whether they're just indie games or big budget studios is irrelevant to me so long as they're good'uns. I tend to stray away from live service crap because I just hate FOMO, so I'd much rather appreciate it if the suggestions are titles that don't require a centralized infrastructure to run (unless someone reverse engineered it and custom servers are allowed).

any TTRPG players (D&D, idk) with an open spot in their group? Anonymous Id: a691a9 No. 1477061 [Reply]
I've been wanting to do this forever but never got a chance to. Every time I think I hit the jackpot and I'm finally gonna have this sort of fun everyone else seems to have so easily, it just never goes nowhere because the other people's hearts aren't really into it For instance, everyone's online but when I ping them it's some bullshit like "uhh I'm VCing with a friend" or "I'm drinking water" or "I'm walking my pet fishes" trying to set up a date and time results in silence. It's frustrating. I tried going into a discord for it, but the people there were politics-obsessed faggots so that didn't go nicely either I don't mind weird shit in the game, I just wanna play. Everyone else has so many *crazy* TTRPG stories.. help a guy out? I don't know how any of this works but I'd like to try and do my best.

2025 AAA Gaming Crash Anonymous Id: ff3590 No. 1188609 [Reply] [Last]
I predict a gaming crash will happen as a result of the failure of GTA 6. There's not enough consoles out there to support it's sales on a very bloated budget, so it will flop. I think we will see a ripple effect in the AAA gaming industry, maybe even a crash. What do you guys think? The best counter-argument I've seen is that they will make more off of microtransactions in VI's online, but I'm not sure if people will even want to switch from GTA:O.

Frontends that don't suck like Launchbox does Anonymous Id: f29bab No. 1468561 [Reply]
Why is there not a good one? I like being able to sit on my couch and scroll through all my games, looking at the covers. I do kinda like the ability to look at the back of the box, the spine, and the cart/disc art, too, but those things aren't as important. So all I want is a program that lets me do that, lets me sort my games autistically (you'd think the autists that make these things would understand the want for autistic sorting). Why can't I find one that just lets me make subfolders? I've searched online and found people legitimately just telling me to use Windows Explorer. Like yeah, I can make subfolders in that. But it sucks to use it with a controller on the couch, and doesn't look as nice. So why can't I make subfolders in Launchbox? All I want to do is... >sort all games alphabetically >but games within a series should all be in a subfolder together, and inside that subfolder, be sorted by release date. So actually I want all series sorted alphabetically, with different sorting inside the subfolders. (Launchbox Almost lets me do this. I can sort by series, and have one "series" that is "all games," but that's it.) >but within a series subfolder, I want to be able to make further subfolders. I want to group together ports of the same game, for example. When looking through the Sonic folder, I want Sonic 2 for Master System and Sonic 2 for Game Gear to be in the same subfolder. >and I might want another subfolder within that subfolder, because maybe I want to put different translations or romhacks or something together. >ideally, let me put custom art on each subfolder, or just show the art of the first thing in the folder, but with some sort of indication that it's a folder and not the game. Make the folders look nice, is my point. And oh yeah, I want a frontend that doesn't melt my fucking computer when I try to scroll through a list of like ten thousand games. The whole reason I want this is so I can look at boxart of every game ever made, or at least all the ones to come out on carts, since they take so little space by today's standards. Obviously low hardware usage should be top priority for a program that is ultimately this frivolous. I want to use all my hardware on the actual game. I've been using Launchbox, and have used EmulationStation before, but they both kinda suck balls. I've looked into others, but they all seem very similar, with the only difference being that others are even more of a pain in the ass to set up. They have so many useless features, but don't such basic, obvious things. Just let me look at boxart and sort it how I want. Why is that so hard? If they let me use layers of subfolders, it would limit how many jpegs need to be loaded at the same time, so it would presumably make it faster, since somehow that's a problem on Launchbox. I do not care about things like playing videos or demos. I don't even care about custom themes. I don't need any extra features like that. I just want to scroll through tons of boxart until I see one that makes me want to play the game. I just want to feel like I'm at Blockbuster in the '90s, but a Blockbuster that I can sort how I want, because it has too many games and thus needs to be sorted properly. Why is this so hard? You know what else is gay? That I can't just click a button and be taken to a website with the game's manual(s). Ideally I would save all the manuals locally, but that would take too much storage for the amount of games I want. But I know there are websites with tons and tons of manuals. Let me click and be taken right to the manual.
Most frontends are built around the idea of “all games in a flat list, sorted by metadata,” which doesn’t scale well for huge collections and isn’t easy to retrofit with true subfolder navigation. So you're either stuck with Launchbox or you'll have to make compromises with EmulationStation.

The Legend of Zelda Thread Anonymous Id: 921973 No. 1459589 [Reply]
It's amazing how this game did everything right >Amazing dungeons >Good dungeon themes >Balanced difficulty. Neither too hard or too easy >Good story without being intrusive >0 filler in-between dungeons >Perfect amount of exploration Almost every 3d Zelda game that followed Ocarina has floundered one of these things in some way. Be it Majora's Mask's obnoxious filler and lack of meaningful content, Wind Waker's terrible filler and horrible piss easy dungeons, or twilight princess and skyward sword's atrocious filler and invasive stories. Can you even say the classic formula was overdone when no game outside of master quest actually bothered to improve or build upon it in a positive fashion? Seriously, I've replayed this game over twenty times not including master quest or randomizers and I've never gotten bored of it. Meanwhile, I try to replay Twilight Princess or Majora's Mask and I drop them whenever I'm faced with tedious filler.

Video game genres that you dislike and why. Anonymous Id: fa8565 No. 1137438 [Reply] [Last]
I dislike soulsbourne games because the core aspect of the game actually isn't even difficult, it's just tedium that extends the games run time. For example if I die to a boss or mob and the nearest bonfire I last used was 100 meters away I have to trek the distance all the way back to get my experience and/or kill the enemy that last killed me. What did I learn while treking those 100 meters? More importantly what makes running that far actually difficult? Nothing. You are just being punished with time wasting tedium and going against enemies you had no problem dispatching up to that point. I understand wanting to have a game that is difficult but the core aspect of this genre just isn't. I also don't see the point of simulators. Specifically games like the sims. I don't see the appeal of watching your character do things instead of actually doing them.

Video Game Translation: Where do you do find hackers? Anonymous Id: 45fab3 No. 1441071 [Reply]
With machine translation getting stronger (although they will always be inferior to being actually translated by an expert), the only obstacle is actually finding someone to hack the game, rip the text for the translator and properly insert the translated text into a patch. Where do translator find such people and how do they convince them to work on the game? Do they pay them, are they friends or acquaintances with them or is it hoping that they are interested in the game and turn it into a passion project?
It's usually the opposite, hackers find translators, not the other way around I've seen so many projects (ds, gba, psp,...) died over year by not having a translator, instead of the other
>>1441071 I assume you have to pay them. Easier to just make a Patreon and have a team working on one game at a time.

Posting the best Kirby game Anonymous Id: a65f74 No. 1244427 [Reply]
Just finished a replay of Kirby: Planet Robobot and I need to scream into the void that this game SLAPS. HAL really said “what if we made Return to Dream Land but injected it with mech suits, cyberpunk vibes, and a soundtrack that kicks your teeth in,” and it WORKED. The robot armor isn’t just a gimmick — it changes based on your copy ability, and every single one feels like a power trip. Jet mode? You're flying through a shmup level. Spark mode? You become a walking Tesla coil of death. The pacing is tight, the level design is clever, and the amount of polish is absurd. Also shoutout to that final boss theme that ascends directly into the heavens and takes your soul with it. And the lore? Oh buddy. It's Kirby, so naturally the last hour goes from “haha cute pink ball go brr” to “AI god assimilates a planet and becomes cosmic malware.” Peak. I love Forgotten Land, but Robobot might still be peak 2D Kirby. HAL needs to stop playing and port this thing to Switch already. Anyone else think this is the most underrated Kirby? https://youtu.be/ekky8ZNdNnQ

The Wheel has turned once again Necromancy Edition Dominions is a fantasy turn-based war game created by two dudes. One of them is a teacher. The game combines a simple presentation with an extremely wide array of strategic options, including over 3400 units, 1100 spells and 400 magic items. Turns are resolved simultaneously, with players planning battles rather than directly controlling them. It has simplistic graphics but is easily moddable and extremely deep. Basically, it's an autist’s wet dream of a war game. >Our pastebin (extremely outdated) https://pastebin.com/wjbSA98Y >Steamgroup https://steamcommunity.com/groups/vanheimageofvidya >Multiplayer guide >Blitzserver (game hosting service) https://blitzserver.net
