Usagi Yojimbo Anonymous 04/23/2025 (Wed) 14:52:50 No. 49081 [Reply]
Let's talk about Anthropomorphic Samurai animals in Feudal Japan. Ever heard of Stan Sakai's Usagi Yojimbo? It has a long-running comic series, TMNT crossovers and recently a Netflix show which is divisive in terms of quality but I enjoyed it for what it was. What are your thoughts on it?

>>49767 Is there any etiquette here regarding storytimes? Probably the obvious "don't post images during it" but I've noticed a storytimes here having 3 images per post, is that because of something specific like saving bump numbers or anything or is just the style of particular anons?
>>49811 There's no actual rules for storytimes, just finish them and dont become another powergirl autist or "The Pervert" anon. I think the ones with three images per post are like that just to stretch out the thread. In 4/co/ a 20 page issue is 20 posts, on 8/co/ its just 4 posts, 6 posts if the cover is its own introduction and send off.

Les Sisters discussion thread Anonymous 01/05/2025 (Sun) 05:07:37 No. 42967 [Reply] [Last]
The French cartoon show Les Sisters renewed to Season 3 last November 2024. People are less interesting in the show so, we'll do that anyway. New episodes aired weekly on Sunday mornings in France.

What the fuck does "Les" mean?
>>49300 In French, les is just the word for “the” when you’re talking about more than one of something. le = “the” (singular, masculine) la = “the” (singular, feminine) les = “the” (plural, for both masculine and feminine) So in “les sisters,” les means “the” and tells you there’s more than one sister.

His credits include Barbie and the Rockers: Out of This World, Camp Candy, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and Dragon Ball Z, all of which he shared alongside his longtime friend and colleague, Ian James Corlett.

The author of the online webcomic Whomp! hasn't made an update since the start of February. According to his twitter profile, he has started taking medication for depression as of February 12th, seems his self deprecating humor either got the best of him or was a cry for help all along. As of March 15th he stated: >i still don't know when i'll be ready to make comics again >i'm sorry I hope Ronnie is gonna make it.

>>49712 No one should make webcomics their day job. Jeph Jacques is a mediocrity factory and Randy Milholland jumped at taking over Popeye as soon as he could; they were among the first to attempt this which is why they succeeded. Look at Wapsi Square, Least I Could Do, Dumbing of Age, Alt-Ctrl-Delete, Penny Arcade; all of them were supposed to subvert the syndicated newspaper strip paradigm but they've all become exactly like it except for being able to say "fuck."
>>49709 >I had a bad feeling about him trying to get back into Whomp! since he pretty much told every joke he could without repeating himself too much the first time Whomp was growing stale by like 2016 or 2017, whenever it was he switched primarily to the vertical 4koma style. It had a good run but that good run is like 3 years. 3 exceedingly excellent years but still a relatively short amount of time.

>>49627 Same anon from earlier. Watched it. It's a decent film. Good, not great. Gave me some laughs and it'd be good as an introductory horror movie for kids. There's no blood, but there's a surprising amount of dismemberment and sort of eldritch look for the designs, especially when the zombies swap body parts and then fuse into a towering kaiju like monster at the climax. There's a few times referencing killing the zombies too including what initially looks like one of them getting drowned. I get the impression they were pushing their PG rating a bit. I can't really find much about the original concept beyond brief mention in an interview from 2014 stating the initial idea was a two part graphic novel about a kid trapped in a zoo with zombie animals. The tone they were going for was similar to ParaNorman. https://www.clivebarker.info/intsrevel31.html
