Whilst I agree that there is indeed a hierarchy, this is introduced by and upheld by (((academics))), especially (((modern academics))). Fantastical fiction and children’s literature by writers like Lewis Carroll, Henry Williamson, Kenneth Grahame, Beatrix Potter, Lord Dunsany, C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Richard Adams, Roald Dahl, &c. is widely popular and hailed as great fiction.
Another great and famous writer, Sir Edward G. D. Bulwer-Lytton, dabbled in several genres, including science-fiction and horror, and was very popular and acklaimed in his time, yet a gaggle of jealous (((academics))) eager to force authors into conformity to their ideals held the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contenst from 1982 to 2024 because (((they))) did not like his colourful purple prose. The goal obviously is to reduce literature to bland and boring nonsense, just like most other mediums have been in decline after the last war; painting, sculpture, architecture…
